OK, I got the new eggs in. They looked pretty good.

Refresh my memory, I have a hard time with this for some reason. 70's told me like 50 times.

Air cell too big = Humidity too low.

Right?

Cuz I got some funky stuff happening with these other eggs. Weird weird stuff.

Big air cell=low humidity, high humidity is little air cell.
Details? What's weird stuff?

So I need to raise humidity of the air cells are too big.

OK weird stuff... I went through the candle one more time before throwing out the bad. And as I'm doing this I'm setting aside clear eggs, a couple blood lines, a couple that are just black blobs and no veins.. etc.

So I get to this one egg and it's one of the black blob eggs. And I see movement in it! Just barely.. So I'm like.. Are my eyes playing tricks on me? But no, definite movement. So I re-candle the blobs I had set aside and watch them.. and see movement in them too. So I put them back in.
But I don't see any veins, or in some just a few veins, the air cells look like upside down "V's", and there are black blobs in them. It's so weird.

Could be just from the egg moving. Some of my bad eggs have done that. Doesn't hurt to leave them to make sure, just keep a close eye on them. You don't want bad eggs exploding. I have one that has no veins, but a dark little thing I thought I saw move, so I stuck it back in for a few more days, just in case.

Here's a question for all of you "hatch-a-holics" out there!

I set 21 duck eggs 3 weeks ago. I moved them about 9 days ago to a warmer room in my house. I candled them this morning, and realized that when I moved them, the outlet I had the turner plugged into doesn't work! So they have gone 9 days without being turned!
When I candled them, I had 6 bad ones to throw out. 1 was questionable so I left it in there. And the remaining eggs are all moving and VERY lively! But, when I candled them, they all look like they are stuck on one side of the egg (most likely because they haven't been turned).

So I guess my question is, what should I expect from this? Will any of them make it? I hate to give up on them this far along, especially since they are all moving and very much alive right now.
I will also add that I moved them again, and now the turner is on as it should be.

Thanks and I look forward to any and all responses! This has me very nervous for my babies!

Oh what a bummer. If they're still alive though, that's great. Shouldn't they be hatching by now? Or am I reading this wrong.

I think turning is most important the first couple of weeks. I've left mine for a few days without being turned when I went out of town and still had a 100% hatch with those eggs, so don't worry too much. Keep us updated, we want to see the babies. Will they be related to stillmecles cute little ducklings?

I was just cleaning out the quail's brooder so I can put the new babies in there tonight (one out, 5 pips!) and noticed my week old or so baby was hopping. He had a piece of hair wrapped around his leg. I got it all off, but his foots still swollen and where it was wrapped is cut very deep. He has black legs, but there's a little spot without the black. I can see red in that spot so I think he's still getting blood flow to that leg. Poor little guy. I don't know what else I can do for him now. I guess let him rest and see how his leg is in a few days? I've never had to cull a chick, I hope he can get better. He's still moving around good, just hopping and I haven't seen him put any weight on the foot.

Yes, they are on day 21 today. They are duck eggs so they should hatch on or around day 28.
Yes, they are going to be related to stillmecel's ducklings! They are from the same group of ducks. A friend of mine wants a variety of ducklings, so I threw a bunch of eggs in for her. I feel terrible that the turner wasn't on and I never even noticed (and I check them and the temp/humidity every day!). But that makes me feel a little better since you are telling me not to worry too much. They are very much alive, so I'm hoping the hatch goes well.
I will keep everyone informed and post pics as soon as they start to arrive!

I had a similar situation like this happen years ago with chicken eggs. They weren't turning properly during incubation. When they hatched, I had 7 out of 10 with gimpy legs. I assumed it was because they were in the wrong postion and not turned while in the egg, but I'm not entirely sure. I didn't know if that might happen with these ducklings.
