Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

It is ok to leave them in current bator for now (100 temp/52% humidity)?
How soon should I move them to a hatcher??
Hatcher should be at 99 temp/70% humidity??
How long usually between turning and beginning to internally pip?

Iain' yes they are fine where they are, yes your temp is correct on the hatcher and humidity too. It can take up to 48 hours from pip to zip and hatch for ducks. Not always but can. If you are concerned about disturbing the newly set eggs, move the duck eggs sooner. If not let the, ride out until lock down, or you see a pip. In which case you which case you will be scrambling to move them.

Oh nice! I was just sitting here thinking, "Now who's the talker!" But I guess I still hold that title huh?

SM: I was just going to ask if it was from a bucking mare, but then you answered that question a few posts down. You can ramble all you want GF, that's what we do here!!!

AND- I'm hoping to go pick up my new duckie today!!! I got a PM from her on the BYC, it's actually ChickenCrazy12 that has the drake! Small little teeny tiny world!!

So excited.

Guess I better put up an ad to get my drake gone so my girls free for a new boyfriend soon.

Iain- My ducks took days to come out. Their eggs started wiggling around day 21-22. They finally internally pipped day 25 I think, took another day to external pip, another to zip, etc. I think they ended up hatching day 27.
Now you're going to have me staring at my goose eggs to see if they are moving.

Shellie,

Thanks for the information!!! I am now trying to reach my best friend to bribe him to pick up a 2nd LG bator and bring over here, which I was originally planning to do after I did my 4 day candle of new eggs. I do not trust the homemade bator for something as important as our first hatch! If I can get the new bator up and running quickly, I will go ahead and move eggs at 5:30pm, when 24 hour lockdown for new eggs is over.

When I move them, should I candle the frisky eggs to see if internal pip and go straight to lockdown if they have?
Also, should I make sure they are laying on the same side up as they are now or turn them 180 degrees as usual?

Thanks again!!!

LOL!! I was only staring at the bator this morning, because I wanted to reorganize them this afternoon when turning them... so I could see the cayuga eggs better. Then, out of nowhere, one egg after another began moving!

I would set up the second incubator and put the eggs in there in a few days. LG's are notorious for spikes and not being stable, you might want to have it set for at least 24 hours to make sure it's holding steady before you put your babies in there. Mine's awesome, I love my lg, but if I even switch rooms it's in the temperature goes haywire and ends up needing adjusted.
