Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Oh yeah - I'm getting my gallbladder out tomorrow, so if I'm posting this weekend and not making much sense, I'm probably high on Percocet.

RG, very cool about listening to the emu eggs. You definitely can't candle them. I'm partial to the buff color myself, but poms are pretty cute.

Christine, good luck with surgery.

I think I may have fhis question going in other places on here already but ill get ur opinion too. I'm hatching call duck eggs nd have them on end but have heard they need to be on their sides?

ted, there is a member - kimberly35042 - who breeds them. I like to rest my eggs fat end up before setting, then incubate them laying horizontally, hand-turning 180 3x per day.

Well, it's official. I plugged in the incubator today. Hatching season, here we go! Tomorrow 23 buff orpington eggs and maybe one/two duck eggs are going in. Fuzzy butts are incoming!

Good luck! Looking forward to some silly posts

I incubate duck and goose eggs keeping little end down for at least the first 7 full days of incubation. I lean them back and forth, but never completely sideways until past week one. I also spritz my duck eggs every single day.
