Evelle, I live in the same climate as you. My geese do well free ranging 24/7. I feed them a cup each of whole kernel corn twice per day plus all the horse quality grass hay they want.
Evelle, I have 2 geese. I talked to Holderreads about proper winter diet for them... and they said pretty much anything you feed a horse you can feed a goose. I feed them oats instead of corn when it is not so cold, but otherwise that is it. They are not fat but they are healthy.
FYI, I live in Wanship (just outside of Park City) at 6,000 elevation. The ski areas are 10 miles away and I get an average of 300+ inches of snow at my property annually.
