Can anyone relate?

Hey, what do you all think of this idea.....

Two weeks from today I have a bunch of quail due. I'm thinnking about halving a quail hatching party for the kindergarders in my youngests class to come have treats (that look likes eggs and nests and etc) plus let them peek into the hatcher and see eggs, pipping babies, and (hopefully) a passel of youngsteres.

Is this a cool idea??

That is a great idea i might steal it when it comes to my hatching time for my oldests pre-k class

To everyone else sorry I've been so off and on lately. It seems like I have a bazillion things going on all the time anymore. I try to get through most of the posts I miss, but some of it just starts blending all together after 3 or 4 pages. So who is hatching right now? Anyone?

SM: Your getting close to lockdown right? What are you hatching again?

I go to lockdown on Wednesday. I have 1 WH, 4 Chinese geese, then stagggered is ssome Buff/SA. Then a week layered I have 24 Silkie chickkens, a few SA, and some Cayugas.

Qj, I think they are fine. It is harder to see through goose shells than ducks.

I am happy to report that all my eggs are great on day 19. Hard to believe we will have another set of babies next week!

Hey new faces... It gets easier to follow the more you stick around. I warn you though, it gets addicting!

Awesome about those lovely goose eggs! Hope they all hatch for you.

I havn't ended up with a surprise win for awhile, you make me want to go buy the next set of hatching eggs, and add to my collection! I don't have babies due for two weeks!

it was in an auction not long ago i bid up $1 and figured i wouldn't win so bought other eggs a few days later i got a pm saying i won so i went out and found a second bator for hatching

I set the goose eggs on 2/9 so it is still way early but i couldn't help my self!!! my mutts are due first week of march and others are due about 1 week later

I love it when that happens. I accidently wond 200 eggs once, and ended up making a few incubators quickly. (Giant old cooler, drilled holes in plywood for egg holders, and used a yoga block to prop eggs to "turn" them by shifting them back and forth from side to side. Not ideal, but It did work. I think I ended up with 119, which isn't bad considering the poor makeshift incubator. I sure got tired of messing with it. Glad quail only take 17 days (or was that 5 years???)
