QJ what day are you on? I really try and keep it 40% or less until lockdown and internal pipping. Then 70% or better.

Day 13. I've never seen eggs look like this. Babies are moving and growing though.. but still.

I've got it down to 50 so far.

Good morning guys. It is looking like the last duckling is going to make it! I am blown away at how this ducky has recovered! Seriously, this ducky's left leg was sticking straight up to where the foot was touching head, the same side's wing looked like it was sticking out of its back, and its neck looked like it had scoliosis. It just laid there on its back, crying and twitching the bent limbs. I thought I was evil to not immediately end suffering last night. And to see the little thing now walking around in bator with its limbs going the right way.... it's unbelievable!!

I want to give a special shout out to my hubby. Because of him, we have 6 baby duckies instead of 4. He's a special man!

Needless to say, when he brought up the EE eggs again last night, pointing out that we don't have many birds because hatch rate is only 50-75%, how could I say no? Plus, we got a call from a new ducky buyer this morning, which brings our ducky numbers down even more. SO.... as soon as I know when my cayuga eggs get here, I'll get some EE eggs to set a week later, so they will all hatch together. Hell, I may even get some more ducky eggs too... I want more anconas!!

Iain- It took my last little call 3 days to unstretch and rest in the incubator before I felt comfortable putting hin in the brooder. I'm glad to hear he's doing better. If you do end up having to put one down ever, scissors are probably the best way. That's what I use on my quail and they are about the same size as a duckling.

Celtic- What color calls do you have? Do you think you might have half a dozen or so to ship out for the easter hatch?

Julie, we have blue fawn and blue fawn pied left after selling most of the breeders off this year. I can't promise eggs I time for an Easter hatch as we have an order for 3-4 now and the recent cold slowed their laying recently. It would be next week before I know for sure.

QJ, it is no bother at all!!!!!

Goosey update: Celtic's eggs are all rocking it! The air cells have dramatically dropped and look good. 2 have internally pipped and the other 2 have shadows growing up back and sides. Ebay egg #2 (which I propped upright because of damaged air cell) has pulsing on membrane and is rocking a lot. I am not sure what is happening with Ebay egg #1. It does not appear to be getting ready to hatch, but it is so dark in egg, I cannot tell. I will give it a more careful check later.

I am waiting as long as I can to bump humidity to give the laggers a chance to internally pip, so will probably not start increasing humidity until late tonight/early tomorrow.

I tell ya though, after the LONG hatching day yesterday, I don't have the enthusiasm I otherwise would be having.... especially since I'm so worried about saving the last ducky.

Oh and as long as you don't need e SA eggs for the Easter hatch along I can most likely do some on Monday the 5th of March. You would have them in 2 days.

Hhhmm, how long after the easter hatch can you send eggs? We have a bunch coming soonishfrom someone, that might fill my bator up all the way. I might have to wait till next month, will you have some then?

Thanks for the information. With each hour that passes, I have more hope for the little thing. I am in no hurry to remove him from bator. He and the other ducky that hubby saved can stay there as long as they need. I placed a teeny dish of the sugar/polyvisol water in bator, and laid out a tshirt for them to rest on. I am keeping bator at 99 degrees and am reducing the humidity as fast as I can. It is in the mid 50s last time I checked.

I'm really pulling for the hatchling!! But in case it takes a turn for the worse, that is something all of us hatchers need to know how to do... so we are prepared for the worst.
