Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

see he kinda just flops to the right side and his leg goes out behind him

its his right leg that wont cooperate.
its like he cant get it funny under him

Well, hold him up and see if he can work both legs, unless he's in lockdown. In which case, just give him the rest of the day and tonight. Might be self curing.

hes not on lockdown i picked all the rest of the eggs,
hes just in there until he gains strength.
he can move both leggs.
its just like one wont cooperate

It looked like it was, but then I didn't see anything in the air cell later. Shouldn't they be in the air cell or does "internally pipped" just mean that they poked a hole into the air cell?

Christine, the duckling in the 2nd pic you showed us last night was internally pipping!!

Fridge duckling? I've seen you mention that, but what do you mean? Refridgerated eggs?

The babies are adorable!

I put those duckies on lockdown. Baking at 99.5 in a forced air with humidity at 75%

The eggs were in the fridge for a few weeks and I decided to try to throw them in the incubator to see if anything happened. All 4 developed and hatched!

So cute!!!! Were they from your ducks or store bought eggs??????
From the drake I used to have and the ancona girl I gave to QJ.

well 2 of the Breda's have externally pipped. the other two are trying. The two that have pipped are just sitting in their eggs. I made sure they could breathe and they both started puching and puching so I put them back down and told them to stay. Don't come out yet. I think they are listening to me.

Also, it looks like one of them is white... I will be mad if they are not ALL blue.

julie the bubble wrap just came in!!.
but if its ok with you i may wait until monday to send your eggs?
things are going to be kind of hectic around here tomarrow and friday .
and i wouldnt want them to sit at a warehouse until next week.

Monday's good, my EE should be out of there by the time I set the calls then. Just pm me your paypal address whenever. I'm so excited!

i need help.
im worried about the duck in the bator.
he is laying more on 1 side . is this normal?
if i try to make him lay on the other, he switched back to the side he was on . he is still just scootching around the bator. almost fluffy .
but if he cant get up on his feet. he cant go to the brooder. or a new home =/

The last one that hatched of the fridge ducklings was like that. Poor thing was superglued after she zipped and bled a little around her belly button when I got her out. She still had a little yolk, but she was glued in the egg all weird so I couldn't leave her in there. I put her in a yogurt cup yesterday in the incubator and she joined everyone else in the brooder this morning. She still holds her head a little crooked but that'll be gone by morning probably.

Mine looked like that a day or 2 before they pipped. They nosed around the membrane but didn't push through yet. You should be able to hear them once they've pipped if you put the egg to your ear, or after they've been pipped awhile they'll also start peeping pretty loud.

I hatch a lot of ducks, and there is no accounting for how they held their leg in the egg. It just takes them a few days sometimes, but they ususally get it worked out. Probobly 70% get better enough for normal duck life in 48 hours after hatch. Others are treated individually, depending on their ailment.

One still sticks a little out to the side, but she is walking on it fine and getting better the more she moves around. Yesterday she wouldn't walk or lift her head, both were just sticking out to the side all stiff. If yours is already moving around I'd put her with her brothers for some encouragment and just keep an eye on her. They seem to pop out of it on their own with time.
