Misery loves company! lol

Julie, they are so adorable!! I hope you don't mind but I just borrowed your CareBear idea:) I just happened to have on sitting right above my day old mallard's living quarters! "Shamus" is my only duckling so far. I put the bear in his house and he loves it!! He's already curled up with it. Thanks for the great idea:)

I stuck it in the incubator when I had a lone quail chick, and they've all loved cuddling with it so everyone gets a stuffed "mommy" now, lol.

CG's sending me some call eggs next week, so you've got company.

I'm really hoping I can hatch my girls a boy this time. I think my incubation temo was off and all the boys didn't hatch or something because the last 5 calls I hatched are all girls. The ducks before that were all girls too, but the last batch had a few with pee pee's so I think I've got everything running good now.

see he kinda just flops to the right side and his leg goes out behind him

its his right leg that wont cooperate.
its like he cant get it funny under him

CG, it does looks like his hip is a little out of kilter. With that one I'd make sure he is on a surface he can get a good grip on - not paper towels, they are too slippery. Non-slip rubbery matting is best. Failing that, a rough towel. Also give him (and the other ducklings) vitamins in their water, at half strength. Keep that up till you see him improving. And give him lots of swimming time, starting from 48 hours old. Swimming is good therapy.

I had a duckling that was the same as yours - when she hatched her whole leg stuck out at an odd angle from the hip. I did all the above and she grew up completely normal looking, though when you felt her 'bad' leg it was less well muscled than the other leg. But to look at her and see her walk she was absolutely normal.

Thanks for the dog advice Marty. And that's an interesting idea Jules. I've even considered a shock collar. I just think that if she can know she's not supposed to.. this is an obedience issue. I'll try to find something that scares her though. I happen to have ducks in the garage at night with her. (in a huge dog crate so she can't get them.) It's funny... she lays by them like they are her buds. And the chickens/ducks get to where they aren't afraid of her. So that's a little problem.

Congrats on all the babies!!

And hello to the New Eggs!!

I have one egg in the bator, due Saturday. It's a BLR Wyandotte (hatching for a friend). Started with 20 but only one developed. The rooster had died the week before so let's just say that that didn't help fertility.

They never pipped the shell, Hatch day is today..... So they didn't make it overnight. But I did pip the the other 2 & they both hatched. So out of 12 eggs ~ I got 10 babies (1 is a little weak one & a pretty light blue
