Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Welcome all. I will add these to our farm site also to keep them together and their own page. Make sure you don't pull the wrap too tight, and be ready for a very peeved duck/goose. LoL they have issues getting out of water, so provide a brick or paver or something similar to get on in the water and use to jump out.

I also wrap wings of young birds shipping so they don't injur them while in transit.

I believe part of my candling troubles is that I have some eye issues. My dad is legally blind, and with glasses (since I was 2) I can see to read (especially if its enlarged, like my screen always is) and drive (sign shapes and colors help here) If my eyes get much worse, though, i will have to find something else to do for a living, that isn't dependant on sight.

I have an old fashion box candler, but really, I need to find something else other than it and my 9 light mini LED. Its not bad, but I need to use cocoas black attachment, to block out more light too.

Did you know it's nearly the end of the month already??

If you haven't submitted three nominations for the BYC Member Recognition Awards, get on over to the nomination form and do it!

Remember, you can nominate someone for Spirit (knowledgable and full of spirit), Friend (a particularly friendly BYC community member), or for Educator (a member who helps to further the knowledge of other members, and who has lots of experience to share).

We love that you are all so wonderful about spreading the love and giving back to those who make BYC the home it is. Thanks!!

Celtic, I will try to not wrap too tight and will post pics when done to make sure. I'm waiting for hubby to finish what he is doing so we can attempt wrapping job.

Olah Marty ! Hey I loved your post about hatching! Good luck with goose eggs! If you need any help just shoot me a pm!

Silver Anconas. I've got the blacks and chocolates, but wanted to add the silver color and now I wish I hadn't wasted my money since they are taking their sweet time, I'm seriousley like ready to say either send my ducklings or give me my money back. I knew I would have to cull most but thought if I could get at least 1 or 2 decent ones that I could blend them with my blacks and choc and just build up from there, but I've gotta get them first.

What hatchery are you guys waiting on? I'm waiting for Boondockers, but they don't have a estimated duckling availability yet. I was hoping that they would have some this week so I could add them to my Aurora Springs Anconas. Oh well.

Chicken - I love your Anconas. I like the ducks with the smaller, spaced out patches, too.

Here is my angelwing boy all wrapped up. I think I got the wing tucked under properly. I could not figure out how to wrap through legs while hubby held him. Does that matter? Also, I don't think it is too tight, but maybe you can advise better with pics. How does this look?
