Any chance law enforcement / animal control will pay the dumpers a visit? It is people like this, ones that don't care for animals properly, that ruin the hobby of backyard poultry for everyone else.

Good thing there are peeps like Puddle Foot Farm to help clean up the mess left by others.

If I was closer I would adopt three ducks. Thank you for your service, we will never forget it.

To the lower life form who dumped the ducks - you are reprehensible.

How would you like to be dumped somewhere where this is nothing for you to eat or drink and where predators want you for lunch?

To PFF and PPF's mom - Thank you 50 something times over for your kindness and caring.

The photos are just amazing. Love the one where they're all in the vehicle, the one with the goose and the one with the hose. It's great that you are going to write letters and otherwise bring attention to this istuation. It will shine light on both the bad (the dumpers) and the good (the rescue), and that's good. Wish I lived somewhere where I could offer to adopt some ducks! (in residential neighborhood trying to keep 2 chickens 'under wraps')

Not that you need any more ducks, but is it possible that the ducks not yet caught ares till hanging around the same area where you found everyone?

waterfowlrescue - very sad about the dear ones that died in the awful heat, thanks to some creep. Thanks for your efforts.

wow, and i thought the 2 ducklings some idiot dumped at the pond was bad(yes, my poultry hating daughter ran after them and brought them home. She couldn't leave them, they had no feathers and she knew they needed more mommy time)

Well, hopefully some nice local people will come and give them new homes. What a sad story for them duckies....QUACK QUACK

Thanks everyone for all the support! The ducks are doing wonderfully and yesterday, we moved 20 of them over to a farmer that we are affiliated with who sells our goose eggs. She has a nice big pond for them to swim in and wanted egg laying ducks anyways. She's so great!

It made a big difference - the flock is noticeably smaller now, but there are still a lot of them! They are FINALLY full though. For the past couple days, every time we fed them, the food would be gone in about 3 minutes.. This morning, we gave them 3/4 of a bag and some of it is still left.

They are periodically running over in small groups, acting as if they forgot they had food, munching some, and then leaving it. It's nice to know they are finally satisfied.

Last night they were easier to get in. We put food in their coop with a ramp and then let them figure it out. To our surprise, they did! Yay ducks! They also had another revelation - we have a stream! It isn't a wide stream, but is is long, so they all try to crowd in the deep parts. I realized that the geese have been chasing them out on the wrong side of their fence, so of course, they just broke through it! Smart little duckies.

When the farmer came out yesterday, she had a little rust colored poodle with her. The ducks FREAKED. I think that some of them were lost to foxes before I got them, because the ducks were terrified of this little dog. She wasn't even bigger than them, just the right color and canine. Poor duckies! Every time I drive by, I check to see if maybe there are more ducks who escaped.. But no.

Anyways, pictures!

Here they are in their stream.

And then getting kicked out by the geese..

The lot of them outside their pen, about to break in.

And then happy to be home.. Or tolerating it because I'm blocking the way to the stream.

I hope you will still continue trying to get this person fined or arrested for his behavior.
After all if all those ducks are so young, then he must have just bought them all as chicks and then changed his mind once they weren't so cute. One day thinking that he'd be a duck farmer, then two months later deciding he'd drive a truck for a job???

If he gets away with it, then he'll do something else just as stupid in the future.

Have you tried calling the ASPCA to report it? They have a very active program for this sort of criminal action, and can surely give you some advice. This case is so cut and dried.

It's not just illegal because it's cruel to the ducklings, it's also illegal because it messes up the wild populations (competition for food and territories, etc., attracting extra predators, etc). Do call your federal fish and wildlife, PLEASE.

Thanks ...

Wow, Great pics! Thanks for keeping us updated. I'm just imagining the noise factor. Out of all of our 75+ birds (have lost track of how many we have), we only have 3 Pekins and they are definitely the loudest.
