Tolbunt Polish

Stoneunhinged, If you breed two Polish frizzles, do you get Polish frizzle chicks? Just wondering if the frizzle genes carry over, evry time. I am thinking of buying some from a local person. She is charging $35.oo each. Is this typical? I really want some, but that seems alot to me. But then I have notheing to compair with.
Grant it I am not an expert but… It is my understanding that breeding frizzled to frizzled can lead to a break down in the feather quality. It is preferred to breed a smooth to a frizzled which gives maybe a 50% chance of having frizzled chicks.

My tolbunts are currently laying. If anyone is interested send me a PM. They are pure tolbunts (no other colors crossed in) and I have both smooth and frizzled hens in my group. The roos are smooth, so not a double frizzle mating.

Deb, I can't find how to send you a P.M. But I'd like to ask how much you are charging for your Polish Frizzles. I have never bought eggs through the mail, and you are a long way from Arkansas. Do you think they would make the trip? I would really like to have a polish frizzle or 3 if I can afford them, and they would survive the distance.

I'll PM the response to you on price, etc.

I've shipped and had eggs hatch all over the country. I've also received and hatched eggs from all over the country. Hatching eggs are a lot more resilient than you might think. Unfortunately, sometimes individual routes vary. I've had shipped eggs where I got a high hatch rate, but I usually think they've done well as long as I get 50%.

There have also been hatches where I only got a chick or two and the occasional nothing. People seem to have fairly good luck with my shipped eggs, I usually attribute that to the nutrition of the parent birds. If you have a nice strong embryo, they are better able to withstand the rigors of shipment. Also the fertility in this pen is quite good, I currently have eggs due to hatch this week.

I have 14 eggs (no extras) available to ship today or tomorrow. $100 shipped via 2 day Priority Mail. I've gotten reports from all over the country of my eggs developing at a 72% rate. This means the postal system on my end is kind.

Hopefully your PO is too!

You should hatch about half frizzles, half smooth. The eggs are also listed in Buy/Sell.

Hi I hatched 4 Tolbunt babies fri/sat
they have the frizzle gene & I was wondering if anyone had tips on determining their sex before they crow/lay?
I heard the newborn head/skull shape doesn't work on frizzles :(
Attached is their hours old pic I will try to get better ones today as they are more fluffed up.

I have 3 five day old chicks (sadly one didn't make it) I noticed that two have puffy rabbit like tails and one has feathers is that an indication of gender?

lol- I used to live on this forum a few years ago- how time flies- alot of new faces. I have some chicks and an adult trio available if anyone is looking.
PLEASE MESSAGE OR EMAIL ME- my birds are important to me- but they are a hobby, not my job- nor are they my whole life and I don't hang out online for long periods of time so answers are not instant.

I am located in MI, but do ship all over. I've been breeding tolbunt polish for 4 years now, I'm on the tolbunt standard committee, we do show our birds (which as anyone who shows them knows is normally a one-sided event- sometimes you have someone else there with tolbunts), and are NPIP.

I have tolbunt polish chicks available to ship- they are about 10 days old and have been Mereks vaccinated.

There is a 6 chick minimum for shipping.

Parents can be seen at: http://tolbuntpolish.tripod.com/at-farm.html

There are both smooth & frizzled- due to the high demand for frizzle- they are only available with smooth chicks (1 to 1 ratio),
however you can buy just smooths if you don't like frizzles.

prices:
Smooth: $30 or 4/$100 or 6/$150
Frizzled: $40 each - BUT NOT available without smooths
2 smooth & 2 frizzled chicks $120
4 smooth & 2 frizzled chicks $160
3 smooth & 3 frizzled chicks $175

Shipping on chicks available- $5 per box & shipping prices (express shipping only)
there is a 6 chick minimum for shipping.

I also have a smooth adult trio available that can be shipped as well

cockerel from spring '13- loves people- not other roos... we don't need 4 boys- so he can go to keep the peace in the pen.

Pullet from Spring '13- really like her a lot- but I have a lot of hens and roosters and I would like to see better lacing on her

"Ms Hen" from spring '12 she is sweetie from "older" lines (Green ACRES line that sold out 5 or more years ago) and good gold lace lines.
really like her a lot- I LOVE how she is over 18 months and not heavy on white mottled still (crest got a lot whiter though with age)
- but I have a lot of hens and roosters and I would like to see better lacing on her
