Tractor Supply Chicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was strong went to TSC and saw the chicks (didn't buy any tho! chicken math lost it's grip), they had 2 pullet bins that just told that they where red or black and a leghorn and cornish bins a duck bin and a bantam bin. I have an idea they just get assorted bantams and "color x" pullets because the hatchery can send them whatever is left over after filling other orders as long as they are either color x or a bantam. If you go in there and want to buy chicks many people don't care what breed it is as long as long as they get some brown eggs. that's why they carry leghorns in a seperate bin for those who want a white egg or want to know that this is a certain breed.

Seems like Murdoch's is the much better route to go.

Their chick list is basically like a hatchery! I am getting a dark brahma, speckled sussex, ancona, etc., and I actually trust them....

Anyone in the Lubbock area want to go in on TS chicks?

I will probably end up getting more than the requisite six, but I don't want all of them the same breed.  TS spaces out their "specialty" chick shipments, and don't know what they are getting until that morning.  Some of the specialties can go quick (i.e. the minorcas they got Tuesday were gone in about a day).  I'm looking for a couple here, and couple there.  Is there anyone that may want to do the same thing, and we could cooperate and get a better diverse selection without having to get 24-36 chicks to accomplish it?

You might post to the Texas thread to see if the is someone nearby to split. Our ts in the Houston are didn't have as good a selection *** some of the local feed stores but everyone is buying them from ideal hatchery in any case

So far our tsc has had comets, leghorn, partridge rock,GLW,Dixie rainbows, cornish,BR and red pullets I'm waiting for some RIR NH BA and BO hopefully they will get a better variety.

I wanted to get an easter egger chick, but do you think TSC would let me? They didn't have any ameraucana at the time, so I just got 3 tetra tints and 3 buff orpingtons. My dad did sign something showing that we already bought 6, you think they'd let us only buy one? Or will they tell us to buy 6 again? Sigh, chicken math has a hold on me...

Probably they will say you have to get 5 more.

Although, if you bring in a picture of yourself holding up a newspaper from today next to the baby chicks... never mind...

Do you have any idea what they had my dad sign? He was kind of confused. They had him write down how many we got and he had to write our address, phone number and stuff. I'm wondering if that record could be used to my advantage...What do you think? (this is my best plan. I don't think we can handle 6 more chicks.) Lol, yeah, I'd show them the picture and they'd give me a look like, "wow, you're really trying aren't you?" haha.

That is strange since I just got my nephew some banties at our TSC yesterday and I didn't sign anything. As for using that to your advantage, call them and ask before you go.

I think the paper said live poultry sales or something. We thought it was weird too, but I guess they keep a list of what people buy. The guy before us only bought 5 chicks! I don't know how he managed that.

(I have a pretty good memory, it gets worse the older I get though) Yeah, I'll have to call them and see if they'll let us do that. The hardest part is waiting til they get some ameraucana chicks in.

maybe they found someone like you that just needed one or a few chicks, so they split the order so they could meet the quantity requirement? I don't know really how that all works out, I've never done it before.
