Treats for chickens

I have discovered that my 11 wk old chickens go crazy over green grapes. I try to halve them before giving them out but some of my roos will steal one before I can stop them ans swallow them whole. They love plain yogurt and strawberries too. Bananas didn't interest them very much. The RIRs like earthworms and crickets. Any other treats to try? We really want them to warm up to us!

Mine love Rice - and Pasta (cooked), Tomato, broccoli - all kinds of good veggies..

My husband read that fruit will cause a hen to stop laying altogether. I suppose tomatoes would qualify. I keep reading that they love tomatoes. Have you heard this?
Do you flavor the rice and pasta or leave it plain?

I think the fruit thing is an old wives tale...


No flavor on the rice and pasta, no salt and not butter or anything... I do use a dash of salt when cooking - but don't add any more.

Oh and Oatmeal - they LOVE oatmeal!

I'll try it. Dry or wet? If wet, with milk or water?

We give our girls fruit throughout the year and it has never caused them to quit laying or even slow down in laying.
