I was wondering if anybody what would cause one chicken out of my clutch to lay an egg that has only membrane around it and no shell? this is the first time that this has happened with my chickens. I'm posting pictures period it has a like little tail on the end that seems to have air in it I held it to the candle and it looks normal on the inside but it's seeping.

It's perfectilly fine.But, a couple questions.
1.Do your girls get calcium?
2.Could this be a first egg?
3.How old are your girls?
4.Is it COMPLETLY membrane and no she'll?

Well I ran out of calcium about two weeks ago and I'm going to pick them up tomorrow. Most of my birds are a year-and-a-half old but one of them I'm not sure about because I took her in as an abused bird. But what puzzles me is that all the other birds seem to have very hard eggs. It might be that the one bird is a older bird I just don't know how old she is so it's very odd that only one would have them like that so maybe it is that my white bird is an older bird I don't know.

It happens sometimes, and usually it's not something to be really concerned about. The calcium should help. Have you tried feeding back crushed egg shells? I do it with my flock, they love it!
