TSC Brooder Kit - DON'T Bother!

What a major rip off! I am so excited to get my first chicks in a couple of weeks and well, being new to chicks thought I'd just buy the brooder kit for $19.99 at TSC! What a joke! The bag of starter crumbles won't last a couple of days and the coupons are for things I won't buy plus the itty bitty feeder and waterer are extremely low grade construction. Save yourself some money and buy the items individually!! Wished I had! I'll try to post a picture when I'm fully awake! LOL!

We almost bought it, till we looked at the list on the box of what came in it, and compared that to everything else in the store. And we realized it was a total rip off, so we just bought the bigger versions of everything and saved money. Terrible how they try to rip people off like that!

i bought it and so far mine is holding up very well and i've used the box it all came in several times to transport chicks that i've gotten and have used the waterer and feeder with all my chicks i used it with my big girls until they were 3-4 weeks old and switched them to the big feeder and now my little ones use them

Sus, I guess I just expected better quality and the bag of starter that is in the picture on the box. I do plan on using the box to go pick up my 10 Aussie girls when they come in to the feed store. They are to replace my 5 Isa Browns. Here is what you get for your $20!

My TSC told me not to buy it....
I love my tractor supply. In fact they put up cattle panels around
the chicks to protect them.....

i wasn't told to buy it it was my decision i actually bought it a week or so before i had chicks and it fit perfectly in my 5 gal washtub which was my first brooder

my husband bought it for me when I went about bought some chicks earlier this year. Yeah it doesn't look great but for $20 what were you expecting? Personally I love the little waterer and feeder. It means when I am brooding a small number of chicks, I don't have to figure out a way to fit a one gallon waterer in their brooder with them. The small bag of feed lasted my 6 chicks a week, which got me through until payday when I could buy everyones feed (starter, grower/finisher, layer, rabbit food, dog food) all at once.

And when my chicks hit 4 weeks of age and all but one were killed by a raccoon, I was able to put the lone survivor in the box it came in and take care of her.

I'm saving the draft dodger for when I get some meat birds this summer.
