Tsc switched hatchery this year.

I called TSC when their chicks came in to find out what breeds they had. The guy said the breeds that came in were Bennies and Pullets. I said what kind of pullets, to which he replied black ones. I had to laugh. Went in and the straight run selection they had were very difficult for a rookie to determine the sex. I ended up getting a couple of the black pullets which I can only assume are black sex link, and a couple buff pullets...Now I get to play Clue for the next couple of weeks to determine what I got! Oh well, my first chickens, I'm still excited.

So far at my TSC the bins just say straight run & pullets. They have no idea what breed they are either. They also told me the minimum on ducks was 6 this year, which I think is crazy. Not really happy with what they've gotten in so far, they all seem frustrated as well. I'm waiting for Silkies ,so am calling or stopping in daily. If you can post some pics of your chicks, people on this forum would probably love to take guesses on what breeds they are :)

I figure I'll wait a week or so to let them develop their colors/feathers before I ask for help. The 6 bird rule is a bit much, but I talked to a manager and told him I'd pay for 6 but I'm only walking out with 4...In the end he let me just pay for 4 which was very nice of him. Today I went to another local feed store and bought a barred rock which I'm excited about...however it made me appreciate TSC's holding conditions. The local feed store had them in a very small brooder and there were several chicks with pasty butt.
