It's been about a week since I had to take the eggs away from my BR hen's and they still are not laying. They are still trying to brood "Nothing".![]()
I wanna say it took my Midget white hen 3 or 4 weeks before she started laying again..

Aww thank you. This is my first year with broody hens.
congrats.I am very excited adding new breeds to my turkey for next year. I still have several empty pens and another area that I was to add some more turkey in.
I was also thinking of making a fenced in area covered by tarps so that no wild birds can get in the fence for my birds. They would still get plenty of sun and be safe from the buzzards and vultures, hawks, owls and other critters.

Narragansett, Chocolate, White Holland and hopefully a few Bronze.
When we have buzzards here I go out yelling and waving my arms like a banchee to scare them off. Or if your in the country shoot off a round to run them off. Pretty soon they get the idea.I am worried about the ravens! Our friends are having trouble with them. They are killing baby pigs as they are born and poking out the eyes on the newborn calves. They have been hanging around our chicken and turkey pens.
Thank you.

I already got rid of most all my birds to make room for some new ones.
I know I will have to feed them all winter but at least they will be breeding come spring.
I am keeping my Bourbon Reds and my projects also.
Wow. Goin for the full boat.
Hope you find them all and they do well for you.
As for right now gonna thin my flock down early fall.
Gonna have chocolates. Bourbon reds. And palms. For next year.
