UPDATE: 7 eggs: 3 hatched so far -- due at 3AM on 12/31! PICS pg 6&7!

Well I never knew that you shouldn't open it until I started to read some of the topics on the board. I always opened it and took the chicks out and all the rest hatched. Like I said I do things I probably shouldn't and one day it is gunna get me into trouble. I don't want her to loose any chickies so that is why I said that.

all of us learn the hard way if like me its the only way it sinks in. Like I said I didnt know for a long time and cant tell you how many I lost that way. Now my bator does not open until the last one hatches or day 23. then I candle remaining unhatched eggs.Hatching sounds so easy but there are so many little things that sometimes we miss and it takes failures to learn from it I guess it is human nature to only learn when it goes wrong of course what do we have to learn if it goes right.

Well, I think I might have to try what you do. I don't want to loose any little ones next time I incubate eggs to hatch. I love it that so many people here have good advice. Thanks for setting me straight!

Congrats on your eggs!!! I am so excited for you ... my first batch shows up tomorrow .....

how is is going kryp hang in there good vibes being sent your way. dont forget after hatch we want to see your first babies

nobody else has pipped or anything yet and i cant tell if theyre moving, because she keeps rolling them around...

what day are you on hon having the chick in there and her chirping sometimes gets the others in gear. what kind of chicks also the breed makes a difference my ameracaunas always start hatching on day nineteen as the marans always wait till day twenty one to even start pipping.

they are rirs.....at 3AM it will be day 21 one.....its so nerve racking with her in there rolling around on banging off the side of my other eggs that arent due for another week!! ahh!!! its freaking me out!!

also, for an rir this one seems to a VERY light colored head (looks blonde)and her body even seems a little orangey, especially for being wet. She looks like what i would picture a new born nhr to look like after its born

that why I have three bators so my staggered hatches are not in with the others. But they are in the final week and till suppose to be turned so dont think it will cause a prob. I remember when I first started hatching I was a nervous wreck. Everytime they rolled a egg I would cringe. After hatching for twenty five years I just got to know that in the end the ones that are going to hatch hatch and they ones that dont hatch came more from my mistakes then the chicks rolling them around.
