*UPDATE*My Possible New Horse...what do you think???? **PICS**

I am all for a good vet check to make sure there are no hidden soundness issue.

After that, I really think it is all PERSONALITY. Do you want a horse that will do what you ask them even if what you ask is stupid? Or do you want a horse that tries to 'take care' of your kids and so wont listen to the kid if the kid asks them to do something stupid?

Anyway, a good personality is so hard to find, it is worth a heck of alot though.

She is PERFECT! Remember she isn't going to be a 16-17h Dressage DIVA! LOL She is supposed to be for the kids. If she is prefect for a non horsey hubby and for the kids snag her! My kids horses are worth their weight in gold... OUrs kids Sara was a rescue with no teeth and she is 34 YRS old and can only eat grain mash... Ck her out on Eqquisite as horse of the day. Look under todays pics and Sara http://www.equusite.com/
If
my lil girl can do this to her its all great. I am so glad to see that lil paint mare chubby and clean. I hope it works out for you.

Horses in the 14-15 hh range are wonderful. Hardly anybody gets too tall to fit them (aside from personal prejudices of course), and they stay sounder and live longer than those of 16 hh and up. Also quite often you can get a nice horse for a significantly lower price than if it were 4-6" taller

I would love to find a horse that was that size. We have a 15.2 and 16.2 horses besides a couple of ponies. I have a hard time getting up and I really like the ground closer since I was thrown last year at a dude ranch from a 16.2 horse.

She looks well feed and taken care of and that is a plus. We are getting a starved horse today . She is about 3 to 4oo pounds lite and is in very bad shape. My husband couldn't leave it with the man that had it. He is starving it to make his soon to be ex hurt. The only way he would let the horse go is she had to refuse to sign some papers for the divorce before he would sign horse over to us.

Good luck hope everything works out.

What kind of kids horse depends on the kids? My sister is a very timid rider. I had a wonderful gelding that I got for a contesting horse. He never wanted to run. His fastest speed was a pleasure canter. He was one of the uglies horses, but he was great with her. He wasn't the smartest horse, but he did what she asked of him. I think kids horses can't be the really smart ones, because they try to out smart them. I think they need to be laid back and take new experiences calmly. My old mare only likes kids. She didn't like an adults. When I got around 16 or 17, she didn't like me riding her anymore. She still did what I asked of her but she wasn't happy about it. If you put a very young child on her, she would turn around and look at them. If she thought they were too little, she would not move unless you lead her. She was also the perfect around horse. I showed her in pleasure, english, and contesting classes. I won many awards with her, but they were never as good as her friendship was. I really miss her. After we retired her at age 26, I looked for 4 years for another horse like her. I never found one like her.

Wow she is a very good looking girl...

Our 9 yr old grandson Noah rides my 17yr old 13'4 hand Morgan QH cross Queenie mostly. But also has ridden my 16 yr old Saddle bred 15'4 hands bare back. They seem to know when there is a child on their backs.. There are some that are very good babysitters....

Florida chick- That was one pretty tail!! What a good job she did!! Both of them!!!!

I haven't ridden her yet, Of course the day that we go, it rained forever and didn't let up long enough for me to ride. We waitited 2 HOURS! So It is better that I can take my daughter up with me so she can try her, after all she will be riding her the most. Of course I will be getting on her first, due to the owners injury, she hasnt been ridden since May, isn't that long, but long enough to get some spunk I guess.

Rocket is GORGEOUS!!!! I LOVE paints and pintos!!

Here is a pic of my daughter on her horse Curley. He is the 17h guy. But having 2 kids = 2 childsafe horses.
