UPDATE post 37 Not the kitty CATS you want to see in your yard GRAPHIC

Ewe sheep--why did you raise cougars?

Was it a sanctioned project for gene pool diversity for endangered sub species like the Florida Panther?

OP: As for the cubs here--they did look like they were starving which may be why they were stalking "easy prey" close to humans such as domestic chickens. Really sad for them and you.

It would be more worrisome to me if you had a brag page going on this. The fact that you felt disturbed by having to shoot this cats is a testament to your compassion. There is much to be applauded there. Sadly, you did what had to be done.

Wow, amazing pictures. They dont look like they are in very good shape, obviously starving. Which begs the questions, why? Is there not enough wild life? Are there too many cats around there for the wildlife population to support?

I didnt realize it was legal killing cats like that; Im glad it is, they look like they could have done some serious damage to your live stock, or your puppies.

Great pictures.

I adore animals of ALL kinds (I dont even like to kill the nasty lil mice or rats in the coop but we do it)

However those poor cats were not in good weight, and I agree that they would of been back and attacked someone or something later.

You did what you had to do, and you need to give your Fila (I love that breed by the way) a big ole steak!

Wow! Interesting pics. Yes, they are obviously emaciated as one can clearly see, especially in the last pic. The cat furthest from the camera has his pelvic bones jutting out.

They would have gone through your flock in a heartbeat. Predators will drive you insane. I just had a hawk come down yesterday and try to make off with one of my Cochins. :0( Didn't make it and the chicken is fine, but still....

fortunately I have a band of crows that chases off the hawks. They even attacked this one as it was attacking my hen. The crows are my Fila!

Poor kitties. On a good note. At least with their deaths others just like them may have more food to live healthy lives instead of them all living miserably and half starved to death.

And a second plus is that they wont go after your pets!

Yep, Ive got crows too. I even put out a few eggs now and again for them. As soon as they start their racket, I look up, and usually theres a hawk or eagle in the trees that they are harassing.

Love em!

that is very sad:hit.the cougar is my favorite big cat.these babies obviously lost their mother and were starving.shooting them was the best thing for them because they would have starved or been killed by another cat.at least they died together.i would keep something from them tho, like the skull or teeth and hide.
they are much better off than being caught.a wild animal is supposed to be wild.

good dog:thumbsup
