URGENT SICK HEN

Ok will attach a picture - I don't think I have any electrolytes or vitamins... is there anything i can use that will work? She is 19 months now I think. I can't be sure but when I get her I was told she was around 17 months. I don't think she's melting but she hasn't many feathers anyways. She has layed one egg this pass week but I wasn't there and my mum said it didn't have a shell!? She ate it though.
Give her some calcium supplements . Welcome to the group ! Your doing awsome I can tell ya know what your doing! Just give her lots of love. I'll cross my fingers for ya.

You could get the tablet or tums and give that orally, but she really needs to drink some water. Offer it at least once an hour in a small cup or scoop held up to her beak. Dip her beak into it for a second if necessary. But do not force anything down her.
You poop picture is not clear enough to see what the color is. You can be a better judge if there is egg material in it.

Trying to get her to drink but she not taking anything. I have ordered some tablets now :(

just curious because I recently lost a hen I thought maybe had had a stroke after having her inside treating her for impacted crop (and remove her from bullying) got the crop freed up then treated for doughy crop then she lost use of right leg and wing. and hardly ever opened her left eye. I was thinking it was either a brain injury from being bullied or a stroke of some sort. So my question is does your hen move her wing on the side that the leg isn't moving? My girl finally got so panicked one day when I had to leave and she aparently fell over and in thrashing around to get upright scatched her own neck and crop open with her good leg. There was little to nothing I could for her after that. So with my question is also the warning to make a sling or somthing to keep her from freaking out when she can't stand. And am very intrested in your outcome and progression from here on. I fed my girl vitamin laced crumbles. coconut oil (when impacted and until bowels were working) and whole boiled eggs crushed shell and all. and water with the rooster booster electrolyte vitamin stuff and acv. She was doing pretty well with lots of attention until I had to be gone that day. I sincerely hope your turnout is better. you have my prayers.

Dont forget Baths and getting well dried so she smells good when you love up on her lots and lots. And lots you have to be her flock until she's well enough for a roomate.

I'm so sorry you lost her :(
She can put her wings back in place if I stretch them out but neither leg is working that well now. Ill try her again in the morning its dark here now...Im just hoping she starts to drink and eat. Thanks so much for warning me about her falling over- I'll make sure it doesn't happen

Thanks for your help - it seems to be the same thing...

Mines wing would return to closed position as well slowly more of a atrophied muscle way I did ttry to work it often so if she got better it wouldn't be atrophied too badly. same with leg. Her bad leg would just be stuck stright out back unless I moved it up. Hope yours improves.

A shell-less egg is very hard to pass, and they can become egg bound, but also that can be a sign of a reproductive infection. Can you offer some calcium, in a calcium tablet, Tums or calcium antacid, or pulverize a hard egg shell and feed it to her in some cooked egg? Calcium deficiency can be a problem, and it may help her pass an egg. Look for any yolk or albumen (egg whites) in her droppings.

Gatorade or Pedialyte are good sustitutes for electrolytes. And you can find homemade recepipes online for chickens.
Going to try and feel for something now... any thoughts on giving her warm baths? Supposed to help her lay it... After that I'm planning to put her in a box for an hour or so and if that doesn't work I'm going to take her back to the vet :(
