VERY important relevant SWINE FLU information. PLEASE listen.

Here in WI, we have had deaths from this version of H1N1 in young people with NO underlying health issues.

The threat of a global pandemic is real, and the odds of this strain mutating are pretty darn good. The pandemic of 1918 started the same way as the current virus; the first to get sick would either die from underlying issues or recover, but when the virus changed, that is when the massive death toll started.

We are too complacent about the abilities of 'modern' medicine to cure most of what ails us. I am terrified of this virus; I get everything that comes down the pike and I am ALWAYS the sickest person in the house (probably due to having mono when I was younger). On top of that I have Asthma, and a son with Asthma too. I shudder to think of what this virus could do to our family. Scares me to death. Literally.

I was sick for the last 2 1/2 weeks.I now have bronchitis.when I called the dr and said I thought I had the flu, they told me they weren't testing for it anymore in our area because there were 100 reported cases in the elementary school in our district and over 400 children were absent the last week of school so they just ended the year early and closed the school so they said I most likely had it.I take care of my grandchildren alot and the oldest one is in second grade and he was sick too.
I still get tired very easily and I'm still coughing all night.Hubby has it too but he won't go the drs.

My DH was burned over 38 percent of his body,(3degree burns) so since that time I guess I have become rather parnoid about washing hands. The Grandkids come over and want a cookie,O.K. wash your hands first, any thing they ask I usually say wash your hands first. I have the pump bottles of anti bacterial soap both bathrooms and kitchen(told You I was paranoid)since I don't like bars of soap, don't know what the pervious person had that used the bar.

we get the flu shot every year, but don't think I want the swine one.i made a gallon of Miss Prissy's ACV and I drink some every day, first winter in years I did't have a cold. marrie

Unfortunately, Eggs4sale, you can't keep Tamiflu on hand. You have to get it by prescription when it is needed. It has to be started within 48 hours of symptoms starting which is the tricky part.

I thought I was going to crack a rib towards the end, only on one side oddly enough. I had to hold them "in" to cough. I am one to keep going no matter what obviously from my story. I am not 100% back yet and think I am. I tire myself out then get surprised. I am so sorry that in addition to getting the flu you broke a rib... like you needed more pain. What do you do to make that better?

The scary thing to me is whenever I say to someone oh I felt like, my daughter is like yea me to... but she never told me when it was happeneing, she is 14 and not one who would just say it to say it. I think you get so sick you turn into a zombie. There are just no words to say how bad you feel. The thoughts of maybe I do have a underlying condition are enough to make you feel worse. Who knows. I and my church did a lot of praying. It was scary. I carry that hand sanitizer now. Well, I always had it around, now I use it

I have been picking up bottles at the $ store.

I'm not afraid of the current strain (bring it on!), but the idea of mutation is what scares me witless.
I'm not sure of how fast it will mutate, or how severe the end result will be, but I'm sure there are endless possibilities.

I'm not trying to be an overly-prophetic doomsdayer, but I have to say...this brings a few apocolyptic verses back into my head. And I make this statement in highest hopes that none of you will use my words to turn this thread into a huge argument and eventually get it locked. Y'all have done well so far.

to all that have had it already. Bless your hearts, I feel so sorry for y'all.

Okay, I'm back. I was gone for the weekend. You're all so funny. I'll have my son cough into a balloon so you can inhale the germs. Licking won't do anything. ..

I heard that in 1918, all the scrawny, city boys survived the flu but the big, strong country boys died from it. In the city you build a stronger immune system. So, we really are onto something here.

Mail the balloons to me and the girl with the pretty avatar. She's trolling Craigslist for germs. That's desperate!

All I did for the pain from the cracked rib (and all I am doing) is a motrin now and then. Of course, that is what I did for the pain from my 3 c-sections, too, so I am not one to try and stop bearable pain.

To cough I would push my back against the wall as hard as I could and then cup my hands over my ribs in the front to kinda keep everything together. The one side thing is odd...same with me. My cracked ribs are on the left side only. I had heard of people having this happen but it was a BIG shock to find out it REALLY can!!!

Our whole house if full of hand sanitizer now. LOL We carry it everywhere and have every size bottle from tiny to big enough to bathe in with a pump attached!!! LOL

I almost gave away my chickens when I was sick. I just didn't feel like I could handle it anymore. I don't let the kids do a lot with them inside the coop with all three having one degree of asthma or another so I had to do their care. That consisted pretty much of me pouring food somewhere in the general direction of the feeders and spraying a hose at the waterers once a day. My poor husband is in Turkey and he felt so helpless....me that sick and our youngest in the hospital for awhile, too. It was really frustrating for him!!!

I nearly died from the flu in '99 and again in '02 or '03...I really want to get this early before it turns in to a mad monster.

A balloon filled with the germy breath of a swine-flu infected sicko would delight me beyond anyone's imagination- because I am the caretaker of everyone else!! I need to be able to defend my loved ones from this by getting them sick, too...

...and, yes, I am a nut. I'll own it.
