I like people that speak whats on their mind!!! and your not being a pain . I didn't really say Seattle was the center for everybody. but pretty close. If the majority is willing to go to Kirkland then thats where it should be! If the majority is willing to go to Puyallup then thats where it should be.
I don't think its fair to the Whole group, if one or two people who live 100 miles away want it moved closer to them. It needs to be where the majority of people live.
I'm begining to think that maybe will should really have Two partys a North and South. SO all can attend. Whats the rest of you think??????

If I had weekends off, I wouldn't mind driving to Hoquiam for the party. BUT I work BOTH Sat & Sun nights. I leave my house at Midnight so I will be heading for the party straight from work. If the party is too far south, I will have a long drive home and still have to get up at midnight Sun. night. I'm getting to old to do that.

So we really need to think about having two party's

I am going to throw my vote in for anything around Renton, and up to Kirkland. I think I need to send the three people who already donated their money back for now. If it is farther south than Renton, someone else will have to take the lead for the planning.

OK I don't mean to hurt any feelings here but here is my take on this. I/we would really like to come however I totally understand The idea of locating where facility is affordable and most convienent for the majority. I can't speak for others but for me I will not feel bad if it ends up too far for us to travel. That is one of the draw backs of livin so far out in the brush that they have to pipe daylight in.
For me I would say the top of page 79 of DeLORME GAZETTEER is about the north limit anything south of that is great.

I was kind of thinking of a suggestion put out there a couple of posts ago. What would everyone say to Just Bugged hosting a party down south and I can host one up north and then in the summer we can have an actual picnic at a park and bring our own food and it would be warm and our kids could play and it could be free. I don't want to tick anyone off, but maybe we can find a compromise for this first party, and start working on a big one for this summer, when days are longer and we can be outside. Just a thought. The seperate parties would also be good for people who live nearest to each other to have a chance to meet. You know, those whom you would be most likely to exchange eggs, buy chicks from, ask for help from?

Kim. That makes a lot more sense then what this is turning into.

Not only that but the people meeting others in there own area it helps each other find out what they might be interested in selling or buying from each other in the future as well as the possibility of group buys on feed.

In the Summer a Park like Lake Sammamish that is one minute right off I-90 rents out huge picnic area's that comes with multiple tables and grills.

Room for volleyball as well as swimming and bunch of other games like EGG TOSS!

At the two different meetings besides between now and then be fun to come up with some idea's for the big party.
A place like a park you could bring your chickens and have a competition.

I second Greg's second to Kim's motion! Sounds like a great idea. It may be near impossible to get a place where everyone that wants to come can make it so a meeting up north and one south could be not only a good compromise but a doggone good idea.

As for the picnic or camping trip in the Summer, I like the sound of that too. Only who am I going to get to babysit my birds for a weekend?

I would be perfectly happy with a party in the south and one in the north. That isn't a bad idea. Since I really don't live close to anybody, I will go to both if I am up to it. So let's not make them on the same day please.
I am sorry if I ruffled any feathers too. I really am not ruffled myself, I was just clarifying why this was important to me. I hate to see the party split, but it is a good idea to possibly get even more people involved. So I am for that.
I think the thing in the summer would be great. Maybe some of us could camp and others could come just for a day event. I have to caution everyone about bringing chickens (why, because I am a mom, and can't help it). Remember that it is not a good idea because of biosecurity issues. If chickens come they should be quarentined for a minimum of 3 weeks before you put them in contact with your flock again. And even then, an there are risks. I hate to see anybody lose their whole flock because of a group get together.

Again, sorry if anybody is miffed or muffed, or tufted, or bearded or ruffled, or frizzled or just plain mad. I am really a pretty nice person. A little off kilter, and I do over think things, and my "keep your mouth shut" button is on the fritz, and has been most of my life.

Can't wait to meet everyone. But Ron, I have a feeling we will like and/or annoy each other. Either way, what fun!

Fabulous plan! Egg and spoon race anyone? Chicken feed sack race? Best crowing rooster/laying hen imitation contest? I gotta start practicing now. I am so in! It would be nice if we could find somewhere that has a campgound and a park so that the campers can be right there. Once we figure out the potlucks we should start finding a summer location - camping spots can fill fast. But lets get these potlucks nailed down first.
Oh, and I like the idea of north/south potlucks on different days so those who don't mind travelling can co-mingle. I am dying to meet some of you folks that live way out ('cause I suspect you may be way out)

and just might be willing to travel to do it. Since the northend potluck is a Sunday, how about southend be on a Saturday?
At any rate - count me and BF as yes on the northend potluck and maybes on the southend.
