Not only is chocolate good for me but so is red wine. Lucky for me the combination is delicious so I can stay twice as healthy!
The perfect combination IMHO! Dark chocolate and red wine

Exactly!

For a time we carried a line of chocolates here in the shop specifically designed to go with different varieties of wine. They came in wonderful little tins with nickel sized discs of dark chocolate with high percentages of cacao. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep them in the shop to sell as every time we had a Private Wine Tasting Party if my uncle was bartending he would open another tin to share with the lady guests to show them what a great combination it was. He shared so much I'd be out of product in no time and I couldn't afford to keep ordering tins when he gave it all away for free! They were a nice little product though...

Did it get cold? Kid help out with the "watering"? I've seen that happen. Poured something they found under the sink on the plant to water it.

With my black thumbed friend, I learned that you don't count them dead until they have been that way a good long while. I'd repot it and see if any little bit is still alive and waiting to send out new growth.

Odd for it to die that quick.

unless my husband helped nobody helped out. He says he doesn't water it at all. It's up high the dogs can't get to it. I just don't get it. I joke to my husband that ghost got mad at me and killed it. But that seems more logical the more i think about it LOL
I hope it comes back but i doubt that it will. I don't know why it died so it's really hard to solve the problem if i don't know what the problem was.

They have been doing work on the water pipes right near my house. I kind of wonder if something got in the water and that killed it. which then leaves me worried about my dogs, and chickens drinking the water.

No, it's not just sentiment. We should try to do the things that we can do, each of us, to protect our planet. None of us can do it all. But if EACH one of us can do a little, maybe just one or two things, it will all help in the long run.

Part of it is in education. The original poster perhaps didn't understand the impact that sphagnum harvesting has on the environment. All I'm saying is that if there is a choice, that we should consider choosing the less harmful one. Perhaps sometimes there is no right way, and it's a matter of the lesser of two evils.

"If you really think that way, may I ask, did you cloth diaper your children, do you use kitchen cloth instead of paper towels, do you use bathroom cloth instead of toilet paper, do you use a menstrual cup and/or cloth pads instead of countless feminine hygiene products? Are you ONLY eating animals who are raised naturally and humanely or do you stop at McDonald's every once in a while and promote eating chemicals?"

yes yes and yes, and far more than that. And no, no fast foods, can't remember the last time I had "junk" in my body.

And yes, I think we all need to stand up and speak about these issues. No, we shouldn't judge each other's chosen lifestyles, but we do need to be accountable, and we can only be accountable if we have knowledge. And if one of us has knowledge that another does not, then we should not be afraid to speak out.

Hey- is anyone else besides ME going to the CHICKEN TALK at Coastal Farm supply in Auburn this evening, 6 pm?

I was looking forward to meeting some more peeps in my area.

Anyone? (Bueller? ). It's okay if you aren't going, that's fewer people in the drawing for the prize.....

But in case you ARE going, maybe you could write BYC on a piece of paper and pin on your jacket or something like that.

Since it was THIS list that told me about the talk and said it was worth showing up for - because of the feed discounts, I figured I'd check it out.

Send me a PM if you are going?

Zgoatlady- are you there? ItsRen?

OK avid gardners you. I have a request, but remember I am over 70, have a pulmenary concern or two and basicall been lounging for 6 years or so.
Last year it was, build coop, get chickens = excercise. Well that worked out OK.

New goal for this year: PUT IN GARDEN
disclaimer; I ain't really fond of gardening, but hoping to learn and besides, I love fresh veggies.
I do have some tools to help.
1 Lg Cadet rotto tiller,
1 manual post hole digger
1 lawn tractor with a dethatcher attchmnt.
I live in ROCKchester. Soil is excellent drainage and somewhat fertile.

What size would you reccomend? Side and Front of house will be reserved for peppers, tomatoes, broccoli and cauliflower.
I also have ample space in house at windows to start plants.
What other plants do you all say?

PS..Still have a piano for free to any budding musician or friend thereof.
You might try raised beds if you have someone who can help build them, than you wont have to fight the rocks.
