Weird Coloring on roosters comb and waddles!

I have a Chochin cockerel, and I live northwest Montana! We have quite a bit of snow here, but I put my rooster in a heated coop every night and during cold days. I don’t think it is frostbite, but he seems completely healthy. I’m just worried about the sudden odd appearance of this weird coloring or scab! P.S. he has been living by himself until I can trust him with the ladies. Thanks in advance!

He has very light frostbite on his wattles and some of the tips of his comb.

Thanks! I can be a bit of a worrier when it comes to my birds! What temperature do you think is to cold for chickens to be outside, so none of the other ones get frostbite as well? It has been under 20 for the past month!

Do you have a hygrometer in your coop? That helps me to keep the humidity in check. I bought an inexpensive hygro/thermometer on Amazon.

The cold usually isn't the problem, but the humidity. Especially if you heat your coop.

Hey, I don’t have a hygrometer, but it sounds like I should purchase one! I’ve never really thought about the humidity much! Any advice on where it should be?

Worth noting that I don't heat my coop and I always keep the windows open.

Mine usually sits between 50-60%. If it gets higher, I open the door for a while during the day and add more bedding material and stir it around. Always seems to do the trick!
