If I had a nickel for every one of these heartbreaking and horrifying dog-attack-chicken stories, I could rule the world.
I'm so sorry. I hope you find the missing birds and that they will recover. Everyone needs Rescue Remedy in their water for awhile to help with stress. You will have your hands full with medical treatments - oh how I feel for you and them. it will be a very trying time. First, to make sure the ones still alive do not die from shock - they need to be kept warm and comfy.
I hope you know or can find the people with whom these dogs should have been and that they receive the maximum bills (including all vet bills) and awareness about the death and destruction their irresponsibility caused. Until then, your remaining birds are stuck in lockdown - the dogs will return.

I agree. We keep a loaded shotgun. Even if the culprit is on the run, you can hit about anything with a shotgun. Easy enough to reload on the fly too.
Watch it, those buggers will be back! I lost many to neighbors dogs and it's heartbreaking at my house because they are all family pets with names and personalities.
We solved our issues by installing that electric fence and boy is it fun to watch those dogs now!! Not 1 chicken lost in a year but there is a worn path around the coop. Each and every one of those dogs felt the zap of the fence and do they jump when they get it One of the dogs makes his daily round and when he gets by the coop he picks up the pace and nervously looks back over his shoulder as he trots through the chicken's turf. FUNNY!!
There is no excuse for neighbors to allow them to roam thats for sure!! Electric fence costs about $80 to $100, gun & shell $.50, we all have one of those already.
I'm shooting from a bit further from the coop, it's about 450-500 feet and shotguns are not so great at that distance... We are going to put solid planks up the walls of the coop.. We were going to do that originally, but we were content so shame on us.
