Welsummer hen quit laying!

Hi everyone!

I have a welsummer hen, hatched March 2020. Was laying throughout the summer. Flock picked up a respiratory virus mid summer. Vet had me treat them with tylan. After getting the antibiotics, everyone started laying again - just not the Welsummer. It has been over 6 months without an egg from her.

What is going on!!!!

We're culling some roosters tonight and she will be on the list if I don't figure this out!

Hard to know what's going on with her. Respiratory illnesses can affect the reproductive system, so there's a possibility there's some damage(?)

Worms, lice/mites, bullying?

Could be just the breed as well. Welsummers are not known as big producers, so she may resume laying later on this year as the weather warms up.

Soooo many possibilities and just speculation as to why she's not laying eggs.

If production is your goal, then processing her may benefit you more.
