We're all hatchin'! Congrats, everyone!

Congrats, everyone!!! I had a 77% hatch rate for my first try, which is AWESOME for me!!! I know for sure that I have a salmon favorelle/barred rock and a salmon favorelle/leghorn....I'm not too sure about the others, though LOL...I might have ended up with a purebred leghorn or a leghorn/white rock mix, cause my white egg hatched a white chick....I dunno!!! Thanks to everyone for hatching with me....

Now, does anyone know where I can get a bigger styrofoam ice chest????

congrats! So far I only still have the two that pipped, one is out and dry and fluffy, the other I just had to finally help hatch at 3 am... so we'll see how she does.... She's out of her shell now and she looks like she's trying to gain strength.... she had zipped all the way around and given up about 8 hours ago, and her membrane started to dry and she was stuck

oh, and my first to hatch, the one who's mostly dry and just hangin out in there..... she keeps like "cuddling" with the one I helped out... she insists on laying all over the other one who's trying to stand still... is that ok, will she smother the other one?

Good morning fellow hatchers!! And happy fathers day all the dads! My 3rd just came out. I only have one more that has been trying for 24 hours now. I had gotten a variety pack of silkies out of 6 eggs i got 2 partridge, 2 buff, 1 cuckoo and 1 bbsplash. The bbsplash was the first one out, the part next and now the cuckoo just did its job. the buff is still working. so i will have one of each color. Yippy! the other two have not done anything. I will leave them alone for another day.

Congrats everyone... this was fun... starting up again thrusday or friday with some salmon favs!!!

We have one chick out of its shell and only two more pips but Tg we have a chick. The homemade bator was design to hold eggs from day 1 to 18 then into the hathcery bator aka hovabator but the last two batchs that we moved over to hatchery bator died. So this time we left them in. The metal trays have the biger squares and the chicks legs kept droping threw I was so scared he would break a leg. so i turned on room humidifier and swiitched on second light source in bator and quickly layed down that meshy stuff the non slip grip stuff you stick under rugs so they will not slip. It has squares a bit biger then the metal mesh in the hovabator. humidity only droped 1 % and temp 1 % so i hope all is well. I can hear the others chirping so

I hope by tonight to have more fuzzy butts.

yay!

Just to update, if anyone saw, last night around 3 am, I had to help my second chick out of it's shell... I was certain it would die if I did nothing, it was a last resort.

after I took it's shell off and put it back in the incubator, it just layed in one spot chirping and moving slightly for about 7 hours... and I just thought I'd let you guys know that it is now up and trying to walk!! doing well
