Good day everyone! I’m incubating a few peafowl eggs and was hoping someone could tell me what’s that on the bottom? never seen an egg like this. It has been in the incubator for 5 days now. Thanks!

It is a porous shell. This late in the season many hens start to run out of calcium and produce poor quality shells. They usually do not develop well and get candled out before they start to leak. We do not bother to candle until at least ten days when the veins are easy to see. If the egg was yellow in the light I would say it is clear and to toss it, but the reddish color means there is still hope.
