What Breed(s) Do You Wish You Had?

I needed some more large brown egg laying hens this year. I got 5 RSL. A mix of Golden Comets and ISA browns. Big difference, I know.
I want any landrace breeds, but I am not going to get any this year. Aside from the eggs I hatch from my egyptian fayoumi, those will just be mixed breed birds though.
I have been interested in Fayoumi chickens for a while, but I am cautious because I heard mix reviews. I like to cuddle my birds. Even my meat birds. I love the chicken friends. Are your fayoumi at all affectionate?

Not at all. It is easier for me to hold my peafowl than it is to hold my fayoumi hens. That's one thing that annoys me a lot about the breed, I do not hold the birds often but I hate it when I need to move those things, they scream like they are being killed. Their attitudes are very different from standard breeds. They even fight differently.

I prefer breeds with docile personalities. However, I once was the proud owner of a Welsummer rooster that SCREAMED when you picked him up. Most embarrassingly, I was selling him at a swap and he escaped when I opened his cage door for food or water.
Everyone got in a circle around him to catch him. Everyone heard him scream when they grabbed him.
Somehow I still sold that rooster.
I think the wheaten Ameraucana hen sweetened the deal.

My Ideal236s shriek at me. And flap and throw themselves at fences and coop walls when I walk near them.
I have a giant mutt rooster of who has a mustache, a white chest, red and black saddle, black and green and white tail. He has crooked toes from being raised on a wire floor before I got him. And he shrieks at me and floofs up. But when I pet him, he closes his eyes and makes happy grunts.
Your Welsummer sounds like fun. Congrats on a swap-success. Sounds like that hot mess worked out in your favor!

I can't believe I forgot bantam cornish when someone even mentioned it. Crazy chicken lady amnesia..now I understand the link between Alzheimer's and hoarding. But I am not a hoarder, I just want to hoard chickens. :wee

With bantam cornish I would like dark, white laced red but there's also blue laced red, spangled, blue...how could I pass those up? :idunno

I also want the other varieties of japanese such as black tailed buff, Black tailed white, grey. :love

I am glad I am not too crazy for all white or all black birds but if the black are better quality than the other varieties or if they have a green sheen...or if the white feathers are frizzled..then I'm helpless. :th

I want some bantam Blue Laced Red Wyandottes :)
:woot

I want bantam blue laced red anything. I love that they come in 3 different varieties because if I had to choose one breed it'd have to be blue something so I can get 3 in 1 and expand on that. But wyandottes are perfect for cold weather with their rosecombs and clean legs. I'm kind of glad I live in the frozen north so it can prevent me from being too obsessed with other breeds. :lau

oh I just realized this should make cornish cold hardy with their pea combs and clean legs. BUT they don't have insulating feathers like the fluffy wyandottes.. Thank you cornish for not being cold hardy. :bow
