What discipline do you do in horse riding?

My grandparents had horses. They bred them, showed them, and they would take them on long rides. They had 20 acres that they took them on. There was a stream that they took them down too. It wasn't on their property but no one owned the land back then. I'll have to find some pictures. Once they figure out how to use this site I'll show them this thread and they'll be able to tell their horse stories.

I’ve not ridden for several months thanks to coronavirus, but I’m starting again this month. I usually just do lessons, ride around, jump a bit. I love to ride but I’m not super into it like some people, I just like to be on a horse!

It was mostly a joke. It's my favorite type of horse racing (I don't ride myself). It's a japanese draft horse race where they have extremely heavy weighted sleds they drag over hills. It's slow but the horses involved are crazy strong.

Yeah, not many people gonna be into Ban'ei horse racing on this site. But it's very interesting to me.
