What do you think of the new BYC platform?

As I understand it, the auctions will be back up, but they are being worked on right now.

Is there some where I can change my poll to "hate it" because I'm logging out and probably won't be back.

I've been a member since just after it came on line, I don't post a ton but I do read a lot. This format has made it too difficult to go directly to what it is I've posted to in the past. The font appears smaller, which is harder on older eyes, I don't want to waste time clicking on all of these different functions to get to where I want to be.

Sorry, the change might have been needed but there's just too much foo foo on this site to make it comfortable to stick around.

Well, I haven't officially voted, but will be - "Hate It" - seems a little mild. I am like you. I didn't post that often but was on here a lot reading, reading, reading.

For those of you having problems with the ads, just go under your name and go down the list to edit. I got rid of the ads but once my GFM expires, then I am probably out of luck getting rid of it. Maybe those post it notes will help by sticking them on my monitor screen so I don't have to see all that flashing and the dancing from the feed.

You have to do this everytime you sign on BYC. I just found out! :-(

Turning off advertising works for GFM!  Hurrah!  It perturbs me a bit that someone can subscribe to my avatar and follow my movements through the site.  It seems like stalking...


 

It seems like it, doesn't it? I don't like the "stalking" part....They really need to delete that kind of "stalking". I don't see anything the benefit us unless someone is very zoned on someone.


 

And also the invasion of privacy where anyone can look at ALL of your photos in what was a "private album". That's worst than a stranger looking around in my purse, my wallet and my house. That is creepy. Total INVASION of privacy. I deleted my entire album because of that.

Again about the brightness: the posts in the threads look fine, it's the main forum page and sub pages that irk me. It is NOT the same as before. BackYardHerds doesn't look like that, and that ChickenCrossing site looks more like things SHOULD be, that actually looked like this site before. I may end up spending more time there, if this bright white isn't fixed.

I'm still trying to weigh all the trade-offs BYC had to make. I realize we had outgrown the old platform, but I don't know if everything we lost is due to the new platform, or to make room for all the new bells and whistles that were asked for.
I think if I had known how drastic all the changes would be, instead of focusing on what features/improvements we wanted to see BYC add, I would have focused on everything I loved and wasn't prepared to sacrifice.

Yes, that's what I think, too. Easy to say there x number of members, when in reality only a very small percent of those members even post. Many registered members don't even post, or they did post and quit. How many active members are there? So many that the platform had to be changed so drastically? The trade offs sure don't seem worth it..... to me anyway.

Im ignorant on this new site. Sorry everyone I doubt very seriously I will be posting or helping any more The old site was perfection AND easy!!! This is entirely too hard to figure out Shawn I truly can say there is no benefits from this new format. It was all I could do just to post. Im very very sad. Everyone else enjoy because Im positive I hate it now Shawn

I'm curious as to why we have to pay to "get rid" of several things. I am on a lot of other forums and they are totally free. We don't have to pay for things like that. I'm confused.

So there is really no reason for anyone to continue to pay for any "type" of membership. The ads should be fully financially supporting BYC right?

I use Google Chrome, and havent had any issues with slowness. The pages load fine for me. Im sure it will take me a few days fiddling with everything to get comfy and figure out how to use everything. What I do miss is the link at the bottom of the forums page to go to the forums that Ive posted in. Also like the link for new posts since last visit. If they are here, Id like to find them; if not, Id like them back.

I change my vote from "hate it" to "love it".
After just a few hours of playing around I think it is starting to grow on me.

I also dont get the big deal about people being able to see your forum uploads. Theyre basically made public when you post them to the site anyway? I use photobucket for non-chicken related stuff.
