I VOTE NONE OF THE ABOVE!
If we're going to discuss Pastor Wright (and certainly, people should), then I believe that makes Palin's pastor, not to mention the witch doctor who laid hands on her, fair game. Imagine if that stoning scenario had been played out in a local suburb instead of a distant African village--sounds a lot crazier in that context, doesn't it? If we're going to get bent out of shape about William Ayers, then we should also be outraged at the Palins' association with the AIP (whose founder said, among other lovely things, "I've got no use for America or her d***ed institutions," and "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government." This man was murdered during an explosives purchase gone bad. Terrorist? Most certainly. Relevant? Well, what's fair for the goose, and all that.
Or what of McCain's association with convicted and imprisoned ex-felon G. Gordon Liddy? McCain has had a fundraiser in Liddy's home, and has appeared more than once on his radio show, where he said, "I'm proud of you, I'm proud of your family. It's always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great."
Like I said before, there's enough of this kind of thing to go around. MORE than enough, on both sides. Which is why I'd prefer to just stick to the issues at hand. Read the platforms and the plans--REALLY read them--and vote your conscience accordingly. Time wasted railing against others for their choices is just that: wasted. No one here is going to change anyone else's mind, so why should we just keep trashing the policies that each other find important? The issue that is dear to me may not matter at all to you, and vice-versa. And that's completely OK, and does not diminish ME in the least, nor do my convictions diminish you.
We really CAN all get along...and usually do. Election years have the ability to bring out the worst in even the best of people.
