What Dog Breed Do You Want Today!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I do understand, just be sure to include the vet bill in initial costs.

A undercoat rake and slicker brush
Ill link the ones i use
Yeah, we'll see how it all rolls out. I'm going to pick up some tutoring for my little sister and my dad and I are thinking $20/hr, so I'll be able to help pay for additional things. Just so it frees up our other money.

Will a furminator cause damage? Is there something better that won't cause issues but will still deshed?
Furminators are notorious for cutting the fur. There are undercoat rakes that are great for deshedding. There are two kinds, the kind chicky has and showed you and then the kind I have, which does have blades. I feel like mine does a better job of deshedding, but you do have to be careful. I remember Pamps saying she had one exactly like mine, but the inner part wasn’t sharp. I didn’t even know that existed until she said that. If you could find one like that, I feel like that’s best. But @oldhenlikesdogs was a groomer, so I bet she will have more guidance on brushes. This is the one I have. I love it, it is an amazing deshedder. Yes it says it is for cats, but I have always used it on mine and other dogs that I have brushed as well as many cats (I sometimes brush neighbors dogs and I used to take that brush to the vet with me every day and brush in my free time)

I didn't know that about the furminator! We had one for our short haired dog that we used just a couple of times a year, and never noticed the cutting, I suppose because it was short anyways.

Yeah, I don’t know what the cutting looks like really, but I have heard from many groomers not to use furminators, and from a few to not use them often.

I do remember it catching on her fur quite a lot. It wasn't a smooth grooming experience. It worked super well on my grandparents' beagle once when they visited, lol. Her hair was a centimeter or two longer.

With the dogs we had long before I would use the furminator and I remember a lot of catching too. I have wondered before if furminators would be fine to use on super short hair. Especially because the undercoat rakes don’t really work on those. I have a cat that none of my undercoat rakes work on that I am tempted to use the furminator  I’m just afraid to

I'll have to see what the local farm store has, I know I saw some undercoat rakes of some sort the other day. Maybe the shelter sale will have brushes, too.
