What's a Koolie?

To my not “herding dog breed” experienced eye, both breeds look quite similar. The koolie seems to have the more typical herding dog colours (merle and such), and seems to be a bit bulkier (?), but both breeds have lean builds.

I know nothing about their history though, so Dawg will probably have to educate both of us !

Koolies and Kelpies are borh Australian herding breeds both having some origin to scottish collie. But koolies were bred to herd sheep kelpies were bred to herd cattle.
They both weigh around 30-60lbs. Koolies can be as small as 13 inches at the withers though.
