One of the things we most look forward to around here is our Lego Winter Village.
I started it 6 or 7 years ago for my grandson. He's 9 now and it's grown quite large. We all look forward to it. I might have guessed by now he'd think he had grown out of it but now that he can be the builder of the new editions and arrange everything to his own sensibility I think he's only more enthusiastic.
It can't last forever but we now talk about when he'll be bringing it out after Thanksgiving for his own family so I think it still has a long history in front of it.
I wanted to make a short video and post it here but I can't seem to get it off my phone. Then too, I don't know if BYC will take video. Not a good pic but probably the only way I'm going to be able to capture it.

Anyway, this is one of my family's holiday favorites.
Absolutely! With the red and green colors it's very festive, and delicious!@DiYMama540 I’m going to have to try making that rainbow cake!
Oh my! That is a great idea! We have so many kids in the family, everyone would get a kick out of that! Love it!
That is so unique. The first Lego village I've ever seen! Wonderful tradition you've created there and imagine will bring great joy to all for many years to come. Making memories which, for me, life is all about!
Just a lovely story. Thanks for sharing it!Oh my! That is a great idea! We have so many kids in the family, everyone would get a kick out of that! Love it!
My mom actually sent me a link to a story where a family was using the same white tablecloth for years, and each year all the members of the family would sign it. Since, they've had some members pass away which means they cherish it even more!
I'm thinking of starting the same thing while there are still a lot of little ones around, will be neat to watch their handwriting change as they grow
