I have a Standard Poodle and his name is Henry Poodle. He loves chickens, most esp if they are chicks. He has guarded three hatches so far. And because my pyncheon is tiny always he is currently in love with her.

I also don't see why they have to be mixed with EVERYTHING. They are great as they are.

The more I've learned about poodles the more I've liked them. Why are so many people anti-poodle?

People may have the wrong idea about poodles. They are extremely intelligent, and they do need attention. They are very unhappy if they don't get enough care. Henry is a grandson of a dog named London, who is the most awarded black standard in History. As such we know people in the neighborhood who are Henry Poodle's cousins! Which is fun.

Henry understands chicken language well and hates coyotes. We love him so much! He also started an evening Dog Party. All the owners come out, about 6 regulars and they all play together. Like a dog park, but controlled. We know more neighbors now because of Henry's dog party.

I think a lot of people think they are fancy foo foo show dogs and/or dainty but don’t realize they were originally bred to be water retrievers just like Labs, Goldens, etc. and are actually VERY hardy and athletic and quite intelligent. They are wonderful dogs. At least the standards. Can’t speak for the minis and toys but I’m sure they’re great too.

I’ve thought that exact same question before too. It’s weird, they are good dogs and so smart. Before I knew much about them I just thought they were ugly, now I know you don’t have to trim them to be so ridiculous looking.
