I'd love to get some opinions on one of my Whiting True Blue's, they're 8 weeks old and so far all look like pullets to me but because they were raised by a broody they won't let me get within 10 feet of them to do a thorough examination, lol. I have an adult True Blue that I raised last year and she also had a really long tail early but I was curious if others felt if the chick with a really fanned out tail still looks like a pullet. In the first image, it's the chick on top with the fluffy cheeks, same chick in the second image. The other chick is for comparison but I'm trying to keep in mind there is a wide variety of plumage with this breed, much like an Easter Egger.

Yay!! You're going to love them! They lay beautiful blue eggs and they're little egg machines, lol.

@CluckNDoodle and @ChickNanny13 those gorgeous blue and partridge hens you posted, do you remember what they looked like as chicks?

I got this little partridge one that looks like it has skate/blue down too mayyybe, and then this solid blue one too. :fl:fl:fl

in addition to these two, I got a solid yellow chick and two more partridge brown ones!

So sweet!! My blue hen with the rust breast actually looked almost identical to my brown pullets when she first hatched but it was clear that she was showing different coloration by the time she was about 6 weeks old.

Do yours both have muffs? Pea Combs?
I see what you mean about the difference with the tails.

Questioning what I got, they're 5mo and still no signs of laying. Got these from a friend that ordered WTB & WTG ... I chose two of each, going by the combs but now questioning what I got. The straight combs should be WTG while the pea combs should be WTB combs are in question. The WTB (2.75lbs) should weigh more than the WTG (3.5lbs & 4lbs) but it's reverse. The WTGs should be laying soon, all the signs are there but the WTB are far from ready. WTB should have muffs but the blue doesn't.

What do you all think?
1st pic the WTB on the right, muffed & think it's a bad example of a pea comb.
2nd pic the WTB on the left is the one in question, looks like rose comb or pea? No muff.
3rd pic - WTB on the ends & the 2WTG in center, their combs & wattles are big.

They all look female. Colorful eggs in your future.

The blue and tan one on the left looks like she has a rose comb rather than a pea comb.

@jolenesdad I originally got 2 Polish, 1 WTB & 1 WTG ... Ended up switching the 2 Polish for another WTB & WTG ... The one on the left is WTB/Dark & on the right WTG/Red
