Who has purchased eggs from ebay ? and what was your hatch rate ?

Hahah, you won't regret it Instagram. It's too much fun. It's yet another way I waste my time. :)

Good news and bad news on my eggs. I recandled (tried the sandpaper thing) my BCM eggs and decided there wasn't anything in the three that I already had my suspicions about. So I did an eggtopsy (inside since it was too dark outside). The first egg I cracked seemed to have nothing keeping the yolk in the center of the egg. So I guess shipping messed up the chalaza, not to mention the air cell being very damaged to begin with.
The second and third egg I opened were completely scrambled. Not sure if they were that way when they arrived or if that happened from the egg decomposing? The third egg smelled VERY bad. I'm glad I pulled it since it probably had a chance of exploding.

The good news is I didn't crack any developing eggs!
But I didn't try the sandpaper method on my two remaining eggs under my silkie since I don't have any egg-safe disinfectant and don't want to risk possible embryonic development for the chance to see if it is growing.

Oh and my other light turned out to not be as good as my first light for candling. ;)

I want to candle my Ameraucana eggs but the last guinea keet hasn't finished hatching yet! I want to stay up until he's hatched tonight since he first pipped about 18 hours ago. Plus then I can candle my eggs when he's dry. :)

Ok!! My shipped eggs are done! We bought 10, had 14 shipped to us. 2 were infertile...and had a few quit late, but I ended up with 6 of my blrw!!! And honestly, we were expecting maybe 50%…so 6 is wonderful!

Congrats mollybuck!!! :)

Guys, I pulled 3 of my Ameraucana eggs but found something weird in the 3rd one. I posted a picture and explanation in a separate thread, so here's the link:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/787411/when-is-a-blood-ring-not-a-blood-ring

Basically my question is: Can something that looks like a blood ring not be a blood ring after all?
Most of my eggs that have rings I could swear have grown since I last candled, and after cracking this egg it really makes me wonder...

Yes!!!!!!!! so happy for you. How Lng has your guini taken to hatch ?

With Instagram every I know has it since I'm only 19 but my iPhone is pretty full with apps so I suppose one more wont hurt any one hahahah ! I just seen your post about the blood ring is it still mooving ?

The first three guineas hatched on the 25th day, on hatched on the 26th day, and one technically hatched on the 27th day (late last night). :)

Hahah. Well I don't want to be an Instagram pusher. ;)

Yeah, unfortunately the heart was still moving in the egg I thought was dead. At least the person I bought from sent extras! I just hate that I made that mistake, though.

Aw don't worry about it we are all learning as we go :) purchasing one of these 48 semi auto eggs turning incubator from ebay, looks brilliant and my freind uses one and its great for £90 you can't go wrong ! I need a large volume incubator because I buy eggs in bulk then rear them to around 3 months old and sell them at auction x

Nice system you've got there, Georg! The egg turner should definitely make your life simpler!
I plan to sell off any extra chicks I don't need or don't have enough room for. But if that one egg was alive, that gives me GREAT hope for the rest that I thought might be dead!
So excited, I'll be getting more eggs in the mail tomorrow!!!

I had an egg that looked to have a blood ring, which went on to develope. I am scared of throwing anything out before day 10 now.
