Will my duck get broody?

Yolk is fully absorbed. It is a little bit open (1mm or less), but it is closing and there's no sign of blood or anything. It can hardly be seen under the feathers.

He is very active, preens himself and my hand when I picked him up. He has problem standing, so I'll make the surface inside the brooder flat, now it's bumpy because it's made out of straw.

If I remember correctly, last year, duckling drank water right away. This little fella is refusing it for now. When should I start to worry, 24h?

I know, I just want to make sure it's ok. :)
I am a bit worried about the yellow color of the egg shell - I have no idea what could it be. Yolk seems to be absorbed, so it should be fine. I'll leave it for the night and I hope it gets stronger. The difference is huge, last year, duckling started jumping out of the brooder box before he dried up, this one is hardly moving. Well, I hope all goes well. :)

Thank you all!

Hatching video when he managed to take a peek out of the shell.

He is now very active and snaps at things he thinks are edible. One of his feet is normal, the other one is curled under his body and can't move much. I hope it recovers.
There's no sign of yolk or anything, it was fully absorbed. There was no poo in the brooder yet.

Second egg started. First external pip happened during the night.

Here's the duckling now

It needs a stuffed animal to cuddle with till it gets some live sibs. and please keep it off of slippery footing that can really cause leg problems..

Make the lil one a shoe take a piece of plastic bowl or card board cut to shape of foot wrap good with tape then lay the lil webbed foot on top use vet wrap or some kind of tape that sticks to itself not to the skin this will help the duckling keep it's foot flat and help it get around uysually only takes a few days..

Now you can offer water [tepid] no cold and some feed to it may not want it yet but it sure looks like it may.

So very cute congrats!!

I will try to make it a shoe.

I gave it an animal right away. Little red dragon like last year.

I offered him water and he doesn't like it. I fooled him into drinking at least a tiny little bit by cutting heads off small superworms and placing them into water. He snaps the worms instantly but doesn't go for the feed. He was 'attacking' wet spots on the cardboard and anything that resemble insects.
I will stop giving him worms so it goes for the food too, as soon as he starts drinking.

Btw, two poops so far. Healthy looking guano. :D
