Today I cracked open an egg for my dog, and it had a slightly incubated chick inside. This made me freak out, not only because it looked awful, but because I didn't know I had fertile eggs and because I didn't know I put them in an egg carton (not refrigerated). Most of the blue eggs in there were fertilized, plus another egg that was the same color as the one I cracked open (tan).

My hen has been broody for about 10 days now, and the egg I cracked open seemed to be between maybe 4 and 7 days (I don't have photos)? So they were out from under my hen for about 5-4 days, can they still hatch if they are under my broody hen now? I feel very guilty and dumb about all of this, and I realize my mistake and will very much be paranoid from here on out about eggs, but I just wanna know if they can hatch.

How did you not know they were fertile? Do you have a male chicken?
A better term is 'slightly incubated chick' a 'fertile chick' is not a thing.

Yes, I do have a rooster. I guess I just never checked? This is the first time I've dealt with this, I don't know. Also, thank you for correcting me.
