Yea, it's an ongoing thing.... he's afraid I'll end up on "Hoarders". If he had his way 3/4 of my stuff would be gone!

Same with his dad... but his dad has a thing w/ clothes! I swear the man could clothe 3 large villages in Africa! And still have a years worth left for himself!

BTW.... WELCOME! Justbugged! I'm probably the closest to Racine on here. Who dose he work for? How many chickens, kids and other critters do you have?

Good Morning Everybody!

justbugged! Cind don't feel bad for keeping scraps. I even keep 4" long 2x4's they come in handy sometimes. Some people have too much money.

I've been a big Monty fan since the early 70's. L not so much. WOW that GB game was a lot different than I expected. BFF got a nice doe out back last night so I'll be over to his place Wed. to help cut it up. I had him so mad when he left last night he wouldn't even talk to me. He's so easy to mess with. He called me after he registered it and was laughing and called me bad names. He called me to bring his truck out back cause he got a BIG doe I told him it wasn't any older than a year and a half and it wasn't very big. That started it and I couldn't stop myself. Man he was PO'd!

Heading back to the woods today. Have a good one!

GutenMagen!!
I lost half my stuff when we couldn't pay our storage unit bill. We have a front porch and a small room upstairs.. filled with boxes we need to go thru.
Cind.. tell your kids that when you and DH are in a nursing home they can go thru your stuff... And you are a grown woman, you changed their diapers...
They have no say in how your house looks!!
I am off to Middleton today, I am going to try to start feeding the flock in the late afternoon or evening when I feed the horses.

Off for now.. trying to down load Avast for DH on his puter.

sounds like lots of fun from the bash, wish we could have made it, but my mom (74) and her boyfriend (80) drove up from Milwaukee and we had a nice weekend together. they got to see the kids play soccer ( like herding cats at this age!) made a nice ham dinner and hung out... yesterday my sinus infection hit full force. My adenoid removal surgery this spring was supposed to remove that issue... guess it did not work. Back to the drawing board.

ok need your help , oh expert chicken people! I have a young hen that just decided to go broody ( just started laying 2 months ago)Everyones suggestion is dunk their rump in cool water... really, this time of year in WI? I have a plastic XL dog kennel I can put her in for a while to get her off the nest... is this a good idea? What suggestions do you have for this?

Good morning all! (nice German Carol...) Too bad about your stuff at the storage unit...you shoulda gone over there when they put it all out and reclaimed it! They have to toss it by law I believe....being the dumpster-diver that I am I have gotten some pretty nice stuff that way!

Too bad we didnt know that your DH was here Just Bugged, he could have come and met us at out Southern get together! Something to do on the weekend anyhow...maybe he could have even gotten our own FT in the groove and brought her out! She was in Racine too.

Kristip--what I learned from an old farmer is that the temp of the hen actually goes up when broody so you need to "cool her off." THe cold water dunk can work but it was suggested that you give an aspirin to the hen. Easier on her in 40 degree weather for sure! I would use one of those low dose aspirins that they have for heart health. Not gonna hurt her at any rate and if it works it will be a bonus!
Speaking of broody hens...the white one that I gave those 4 chicks to did not take them. 2 got out of her box and died and when I checked yesterday the black one was about gone...I brought it and the gold one in and popped them in the chick tv with the little quail. I guess it just needed some warmth and food and water. They both are running around like crazy animals today! I never did figure out which hen hatched them....and my turkey is laying again! I guess she would since she is FINALLY not broody any more! What a messed up bird.

Nice link to the crosses Cind...I am glad to see that "Miracle" found it's way to the Feathersite page! There is a huge thread on here about it written from the bird's perspective. She is thinking about turning it into a children's book. If you have time for a cute and long read, do a search for Miracle and I am sure it will come up. The Phoenix/game bird cross was especially interesting to me because I have that cross here...MIne started with a Phoenix Roo and a OEGB Roo though. They had a harem in the barn and now are on the F3 generation (I think) Nothing so regulated as what that person did though...I see he or she has all the birds banded like H&R does...I guess I have too many to do that! You should see her notebook of who is who! Fantastic! I may be OCD about some things but paperwork and record keeping are definitely not among them!

I made myself some GF pancakes this morning with some of H&R's wonderful maple syrup on top--MMMMMM. It is funny but pancakes always gave me a stomach ache before...I remember as a kid I didnt like to have them for breakfast because I would feel sick at school...same with sandwiches. I wonder if I had Celiac even then...? If so I bet I dont have much of a small intestine left anymore!

Well, I have to get my venison roast into the slow cooker. I am putting one from Carol and one from mine in there...we will have a taste test later on at dinner and see if there is a difference in the meat from different areas...did I mention OCD earlier?

Have a fantastic day! Terri O

Cute pics Tiki! Are they laying yet? I was wondering what color....?

DH went hunting the mornings of Sat & Sun...Sun he saw a doe and a buck chasing her. Said it wasn't a good shot, but the ruts starting so I will be a widow up until about thanksgiving. Heres hoping for a deer!

I'm sharpening my knives, cause if he gets one in the next few weeks i'm helping him butcher! It can't just hang out in the garage like he can when the snow is flying.

DH is back at the Sussex quarry, and we are anticipating him slowing down in hours. What has turned from laying him off all winter has turned into 2 months, and now is 1 month, if he even gets laid off. He wants to be laid off for a month or two, cause unemployment and keeping the kids home from daycare will actually turn out to be more than him working 40 hours. Oh well, we shall see. I would like him to be laid off for a month too, so he can work on the house and also RELAX! Hes been pushed so hard, he needs time to just do nothing.

Got to brag to the in-laws (bil,Sil too) what we pulled out of the garden this year. FIL was very impressed! So was BIL, he planted a garden and made pickles and pasta sauce this year. I am so proud of them. SIL probably won't do any of that. She has a little garden, but after that she doesn't care.

Afternoon All....great win for the Pack. They have a bye this week, so we will have to watch the lions and vikes I guess, the bears also have a bye.

Hope you enjoy the venzun TO. The Italian sausage I made yesterday turned out really good. I just finished grillin when it started to pour out. I made a 10lb batch, so I froze 9 one lb packages for future use.

I took my hide and traded it for a pair of deer hide gloves. Better than nothing for it I suppose.

OK FT if you don't want a comment about the cat in rhe city I won't....

Later All... bigz
