Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Very pretty!

Bean looks like a rooster to me. The feathers on his neck are pointy. Eight weeks is not so old that his comb would be a bright red color yet.

Is Bean a "mutt," or do you know his breed?

Busy Day here today. We did 4 gallons of fridge pickles and 5 lbs of green beans in the freezer. That's the first picking and I can't even notice the dill that was harvested....need any bl4? The young chicks are looking good and healthy. I 'm thankful for that.

Other than busy season here...nothing new.

Peace..bigz

Warm humid night here, again! Trying desperately to rid myself of 4-6 older ladies, will be sad to see them go but looking forward to eggs from Cuties eggs... hmmm they hatched 5/21 so t minus 45 days I am thinking mid Sept.... Raspberry I too have a roo I will pay someone to take :) My hatch was better ratio than yours 4 outta 6 hens for sure....Sorry Wausau is not on my trip list Jim, but if things change will let you know. There is one I am calling "Pat" late rooster or early hen IDK
Agree with you totally Z on the Amish ...people are people and there is nothing that makes a group of people "all" alike, we all have wrinkles eventually. Thankful no black flies here, only danged mosquitoes and to tell the truth they are not too bad either.
Like Cindy I forget the rest... take care all and enjoy the day!

good evening,

put up 20 packages of green beans in the freezer today,, Annie picked them and I snipped every one of them ..she blanched and packaged them as I snipped so I didn't get in on the packaging either..

that was the first picking,, now the yellow ones are ready , too.. tomorrow or Thursday they will be done and then the greens will be ready for another picking..

we had some for supper,, no way can you beat fresh beans ..

I talked to Jordan, he can't go far for just one chicken.. he just moved to a farm with his family and is starting all over with the birds.. he is looking for ducks, and geese and goats, too..

.........jiminwisc.......

Jim, if we get that house warming party on the lake going (hint, hint), I can bring an extra rooster or 3 for Jordan. I have some pure English black & blue orps and one of Hershey's beautiful boys available. Sweet as can be, that one. Good size to him too but he is a mutt.

Welcome Magnificent! Hope you like it here. Sounds like you are doing good so far. I don't think your chicks need any heat any more though. I had mine outside when they were only half feathered/half down without any heat back in the beginning of June. They will be just fine. Orps & Aussies are wonderful mellow breeds. I am glad yours are so friendly for you. Enjoy!

Fuxzi, sorry but that looks like a roo to me too.

Hi All!

The "kids" decided to fly over the fence to "greener grass" at the friendly neighbor's. Had to chase them all home at roost time.

Nothing new.

Night All!

Any breed specific? I have some running around the yard waiting til fall butcher, one is a splash BLR(not from my stock) and one is an Icelandic. Their are a few SS and Dotte crosses that just started being boys, free of course.

BigZ, I would if I could but I have no time! Every weekend is packed! :( I have been trying to fit picking black raspberries into my schedule and having no luck. The kids would appreciate home made pickles; thankfully their grandma puts up a lot of them.

Ok, off to work.
