Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Fish Fry Friday All...I grill the corn both ways....if I leave the husk on, I feel for the tip and cut the remaining top off, and also cut the butt off up to where the kernels start...then layers will come off as you turn...some will remain on till done....I also at times just lay the bare corn on the grill and turn often till perfection is achieved.....I would not pay $7.50 either....the seller can take it home and feed to the pigs...in my opinion. I would not pay $6 either....

Don't know if I'll go to portage yet? It would be fun for sure!

Took a walk in the garden...ate a purple pepper, a purple kohlrabi, handful of green beans, a couple small tender zukes, a cuke, and washed it down with a beer....nice walk, eh!

My grass needs cut too....think I'll let it go another day or three.....I allowed the last cut grass to dry in the sun and raked it up and threw it in the coops....prolly a bale's worth for free...why waste it? It had a lot of purple clover in it that the flocks will eat, even when dried.

Peace...bigz

I know what you mean. I let slip last night to my boyfriend that I was getting another pair of Brahmas. In 'that' tone I got..."Don't you have enough birds!?" Some people just don't get it.

So are you close enough to come for the day or are you staying over?

Shamrock Farm is not too terribly far from me and Nate has a bunch of rare colored Brahmas. I'm not sure what he has for sale right now, but if you connect with him and want me to bring some down, I can. But you'd have to get them Saturday morning when I check into my hotel. I can't bring them my room or leave them in the car. lol

I am game! It is only a 2 hr drive for me so no biggie to stay for dinner! Heck, I could even meet up with Cuties and we could car pool! (Hint hint!)

..good afternoon, got most of the rest of the lawn mowed..

have 2 pictures to send, but byc won't upload them,, I sent them private email OK, so I know it is not my puter ..

not much new here .. the weeds in the garden are out of control.. it happens every year..
I start out with the best intentions, and then something always comes up and the garden goes unattended ..

the garden plants are doing fine, so I am not concerned that we will have no harvest..

If I do corn on the grill, I soak it in water for a few minutes..
I leave all the husks intact .. then the water that leaked into the kernels, heats up and sort of steam cooks the corn,, and the kernels do not burn .. the husks do turn black ..

my corn is just tasseling ..

Thanks for the offer! I didn't know there was anyone in WI with colored Brahmas. Do you have contact info for him or does he have a web page? I have a lot of the rare ones too but I'm always looking to add good birds. Right now I'm looking for more partridge pullets and maybe a lavender pullet or two. I don't know if I'm going to have room in the truck though...I'm already getting an adult pair of darks at the show and I'm suppose to pick up some other birds on the way home.
Where is he located? Maybe I'll have to do a trip by him another weekend.

So you all get hotel rooms eh? I'd get a room but don't know if I can leave a rooster in the parking lot overnight...there might be some unhappy guests early Sunday morning.

Hey Everyone! Looooong time no talk! Yeah, somehow I am 400 posts behind...not reading. I got the last 5 pages read...what's this big hoopla about selling stuff? GEEZ is all I can say...

Portage show...I AM OFF THAT WEEKEND! Yeah--I will drive up and meet you all for dinner...Mexican is best for those of us that suffer with a GF diet--just sayin'. Those Margaritas take a toll with me too...did someone say you can camp at the fairgrounds? Fees? who do I get in touch with?

Sorry to read about the Auntie H&R. 100--wow, I dont know if I want to get that far...my client and I were just talking today about how old he is (90) he wasnt sure "how old they say I am now..." and today was a lucid day. I hope it continues--last week was bad.

I have been working nearly 50 hours a week off of the farm and it is really showing. I am also examining how much poultry I have here...and how much I think I want to dump before winter...
I hope you are doing OK Deli...

Well, our dryer is dead and I need to hang some more clothes on the line--I am glad the mulberries are mostly gone. Then off to dinner at my daughters' place--youngest is back from Florida and DH and DS are at the races for the weekend; we are having a movie too...I cant believe they invited me!

Glad to see we have a few folks on here yet...stay safe and sane! TerriO

Do a search on Shamrock Farm, Hudson WI and it will come up. He does have a webpage. I think his birds are Dan Powell lines. I don't think he has lavender though. Maybe my idea of "rare" in brahmas isn't really that rare. Here is his list. I had a gold laced hen and a silver laced roo at one time. But I sold them.

*Gold Laced
*Black Laced Red
