Oy, long day at work. Got home an hour ago.

Incubators still going steady and strong, yay.

Got a couple photos from today if anyone likes that kind of thing. Posting them as links in case anyone is squeamish. (These three photos are the least potentially disturbing ones I took, didn't include the surgery shots, but there are before and after photos of a 13 pound mass I removed a dog from.

)

http://cccorns.com/freepics/Hurley/MassPreop1.JPG - dog awake, standing, happy even with the large mass hanging off the left leg that is getting ready to rupture open

http://cccorns.com/freepics/Hurley/MassPreop2.JPG - beinmg prepped for surgery, can see the big vessels feeding the mass

http://cccorns.com/freepics/Hurley/MassPostop.JPG - Appearance of the leg post-op, back to normal size

Well, I decided to try something with my little hen who gets broody. She's small, maybe a bit larger than a bantam and she stays away from the other hens for the most part. She doesn't seem to get picked on, but still stays away form them. I have 4 pullets about 15 -16 weeks old. I made their area a few feet bigger and but the little hen in with them. They are almost as big as her, but so far so good. I'm hoping it will ease the indoctrination process for the little ones and give the little hen someone to "hang" with.

Quarantine for the everyone was suppose to be over tomorrow but the chickens had other ideas!

Mon. when I got the dishes out of the temp. coop I guess I didn't close the door all the way. I went back with the dishes and 2 of my other girls were checking it out and one of the newbies was out free ranging!

I turned the rest loose. They are getting along great!

When I'm done here I'm going to go out and sneak the lowest ranking of that group into the main coop. 1 a night until they all roost there. Hope it works.

Glad to see most of the hatches went well.

Could you post a link for the shirts again please? I'm signing up for the bash!

Hope everyone like German Potato Salad!

Good Morning Everyone! ODrH it must be very rewarding to be able to help helpless animals. Good for you! Just came in from standing guard. A yote cruised thru the front yard must have gone across the hwy. Shotgun is parked by the back door. Yesterday Buster ran wide open from the backyard all the way to the very front of the yard and into the woods. Seconds later here came Peatwo with Buster on his tail. He's really takin a beatin lately. Peatwo actually wanted a piece of me too. Until I grabbed him and stroked his ears. Spring fever I think. Heard a familiar song yesterday. My Flycatchers are back!

Always enjoy having them around! Can't stand it, I'm taking the plow off the tractor to see if I can get it stuck in the woods. Was thinking about the Bash. So far Bigzio is the only one mentioning a main course. Is everyone planning on bringing their own? Was just thinking I could make a Nesco full of BBQ's? I'd do that if others would volunteer to bring buns? I'll make the noodles too think there'll be enough sides to go around. Just think Bigz can't be expected to feed everyone grilled veni.

IDK what do you guys think? The sun is shining again! Go sun!

Good Morning

it took me over 15 minutes to get here, i have nothing to say, but I am going to post anyway, MSN is soooo slooow today.

first I want to thank everybody around me.. I am coughing and have congestion,,slight headache.. first time in over 5 years.. seems like everybody has it around here..

Out of the 60 eggs from Brent, I have 7 that did not hatch.. I tossed 15 earlier that were clear.. I had to bring in another LARGE fish tank/brooder yesterday.. at least the chicks are not double decked anymore.. LOL

The guinea lady decided that 2 day olds would not mix in with her 10 day olds very well so she is not coming today..
she will come in about a week to get them..

I have to clean out the hatcher today.. It has that "just hatched" smell.. lots of empty shells..

Annie had me lock up the turkeys to keep them off the deck. I got only about half of them.. the hens all gave me the slip.. Of course, Tommy will never be locked up,, Ken would kill me..LOL

DrH, we have coyotes in the neighborhood, but I have had not had them visit me,,,,yet.. we also have wolves, so that keeps the coyotes off balance.. I have had a bear and a bobcat in the yard.
the bobcat came right up onto the deck and looked into the patio door.. There is at least one cougar, prolly more..
