Sorry to hear about Bianca, otonoh.

Oh David--I am sorry! I hate when they die and they are the favorite too! Good that you buried her where you did--not sappy at all. I still go down to the "pet graveyard" in my yard when I want to talk to my stock dog. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it actually. Sometimes there is just "that special one" Ya know? Anyhow--sorry again and I hope another one pops out for you! Hurley told me that in her experience the hens of her breed grow their tails first...I hope you have A LOT growing their tails already. Good luck on building that run; I hope you get it done with no problems.
I sure wish I had the gumption to get up at 4:30! When I milked cows for my job I had to get up at 3 and I really did like it...so peaceful at that time. I actually was thinking that I needed to start getting up earlier so I could get more done around here. With the 4H kids coming almost every night after school I am losing a lot of time that I used to use for the house and animals. WHen I agreed to this I wasnt thinking it would take 2-3 hours of my time daily!

Well--DH should be home soon...not having ham--I decided on omelets. Yup, I definitely have enough eggs! Terri O

kingdr85, what else do you do with chickens? either eat 'em or collect the eggs

Thanks everyone, she looked sleepy this morning, Apparently it was more than that. I will miss her but I am glad she went now, instead of suffering for the rest of her life.

David-I'm so sorry about little Bianca! You did everything you could have and more. I teared up at the kindess and respect you showed her by laying her to rest by the run. I'm sure she is at peace. It's not sappy to honor our loves ones, even if they wear a different kind of coat then us. They are family no matter how long they can stay with us.

Raimnel-that's my siggy!!! Yep -if you can count em then you need more!! That's one of the equations in Chicken Math. Unfortunately, I never was good at human math but I'm a whiz at chicken math.

I'd better get going...I've got to check my email before Big Bang comes on....Have a great night!!!

Evening everyone, sorry to hear about the loss David

, my oldest 2 won't let the youngest name any of the birds until the chicks are older because the named ones seem to not make it. Took some chicks to school today to visit DS(6)'s kindergarten class and had DD(11) help me out with holding the birds. All the kids liked petting and carefully holding them- his teacher had never held a chick before!

IF anyone is looking for some white leghorn or new hampshire cross production chicks let me know-there are 4 of each breed and the girls should be good egg layers. Can't keep them, we are starting to have more birds than we want! I took them as a buddy for our single chick hatch but now was able to move the little one in with the younger 3 chicks.

Well just about finished up another rental unit today- 3rd one in 2 weeks and have 2 more to finish before mid May. Told DH we need to take a day off sooner rather than later as things have been just crazy lately. DH didn't get home last night or should I say this am around midnight as he was finishing up a job that need to be completed for today and he's not home yet tonight.

Guess I need to go find the 2 boys as I think they snuck outside!

I know about how many I have, I just can't count that fast! lol I tried to count the 6 week olds when we taxi'd them outside today but somehow ended up with more than the last count and we lost some in that time? IDK there's like 60 there and 40 something of the 2 weeks olds and 37 big chicken and 4 ducks oops make that 3 ducks (lost one this winter) lol see 140ish

I must have enough now!

dumb dog!
Ya I got nothing else! lol talk tomorrow!

David I'm sorry for the loss of your little one

DH put the brooder shavings outside the run and I'm not so thrilled with that. We don't have a dog at this time but DD29 does and I don't need her dog to get into it when they visit. Maybe the rain will dilute it before they visit.

I sure hope we can dry out soon, there is soooo much work to do outside. I can't wait to get to it.
Have a good night and hopefully a dry day tomorrow

gud evenink,, has anybody else missed Bigzio? I know why he is not posting.. He had emergency eye surgery.. detached/torn retina.. He cannot see clearly enough to read his "puter.. so if anybody wants to say something nasty about him,,, now would be the time.. :LOL He is doing well and is in good spirits.. the surgery went well.. he will be back as soon as he can read the screen again..

Terry O.. Years from now nobody will remember if your house was messey, or you did not get all your projects done,,, but they will remember the nice lady who taught them how to ride a horse..

Hmmm..,,,,,,,let me see, chicken math.. we butchered 6 roosters and gave away 5, then I hatched out 43 more.. how's that for reducing the herd?? LOL I am afraid to count what I have.. Just in chicks and other babies,,,, 43 + 38 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 4 = 90
plus about again that many full grown assorted birds.

and more than again that in the incubators..

and at least that many in the freezer..

It is a sickness, I tell you..

is anybody else recording the Royal Wedding? I had to set it up for Annie.. 6 hours worth on CNN or something like that.. You know what that means,,, I have to find something to do for 6 hours while she is watching it.. LOL
