Very sorry to hear this, people like that tend not to have any empathy or sense of remorse. It just isn't in their genes.

One lesson of this is something Bill Cosby once said when asked his advice about money (and as a very successful comedian he made a lot of money). He said to always sign checks yourself. This means a small business owner needs to set it up so no one else is authorized to sign a check (except the owners spouse). That way he/she has an actual feel for how much is going out and where it is going. Otherwise, you get busy with everything else about running a business and start ignoring that part.

Oh she did steal the money, she admitted to it once, but now she is pleading not guilty, go figure. The FBI has been investigating this for 2 years now, trying to make sure they had all there ducks in a row I guess you could say before the persued the case. And yes, there will probably be LOTSSSSS of civil suits, she was taking money that was being held out of employees checks for 401k's and insurance and keeping it herself. As a bookkeeper myself, I do agree my father in law put way to much trust in her. My boss does sign every check I write, he looks at reports on a daily basis, my father in law didn't. He had a business before this one that she kept his books on too that went under about 10 years ago, turns our it was all her. Thats why you have to have checks and balances with book keepers, you never know whos stealing from under your nose. She came off as the sweetest person, gosh it just makes me so sick!!!! She will get what she deserves, she will be judged, you can count on that. I just want to see her behind bars for a loooooong time!!!
