Woof !! What kind of dog food do ya'll feed your pooch

My Kasey was bottle fed on Esbalac. She had so many problems when she was young that she had to have just plain cooked rice with low sodium broth. I took (stole) her...yes I did!
right before her litter was bagged & drowned my only regret is that I couldn’t steal more puppies. Sheriff did nothing when I reported these people. So...I did what I did.
These people actually sent their children to my front door with the next litter. (Which I took in and placed in homes) I offered to spay their female...they were too proud to do the right thing
Kasey’s 9 now.
The neighbors ended up in prison. Mom & 2 sons for a terrible crime in our small town. Daisy (Kasey’s mom) died of mastitis while pregnant
Again.
Some people :smack
Sorry...just had to vent
Thank goodness for kind people like you.

What a cutie! They're worth the effort to cook for them though.

We had a JRT that I cooked for too. He would have white rice and extra lean ground beef or chopped roast, the vitamin supplement, shredded carrot and we rotated through squash, green beans and peas. Anything else and he would quit eating and have an upset tummy.

Thanks! Yes they sure are worth it, if we can help them feel better and live a long life, we do what we have to do!

So I'm not the only crazy one that cooks for their dog. :highfive: You fed a similar diet, these simple diets really help with tummy trouble!

No, you're not the only crazy one. I still cook for the 3 we have, usually a meat and veggie loaf of some sort.
Do you use a vitamin mix and it to the food or just a daily vitamin?

Very sad indeed.
You did a wonderful thing.

Ooh, veggie loaf! I should push more veggies.

I crush up a human daily vitamin that goes into the cooked food. However for one meal I add an eye supplement (he is developing cataracts) which also has vitamins, I add Fish Oil at this time too, (Salmon) and at treat time he gets a dog vitamin with joint support. So, mostly dog vitamins.

Interesting. I'll remember to try that. My old gal likes the PetFresh well enough but sometimes she seems tired of it. Out JRT had a vitamin supplement to add to his food plus he took a dog glucosamine tablet twice a day because he had terrible arthritis. If a human vitamin would work that's a lot cheaper than the mixes.

The puppies love the meatloaf. Frankie eats it first, waits to see if he'll get anything off our plates, then goes back for kibble after we eat. Spoiled rotten I tell ya.

I tried the Pet Fresh too, I think it's a fabulous food and the way to go for really fresh food! However my little guy is allergic to Chicken, (he throws up) and this was the last food I tried before I began cooking for him.

I did a lot of digging around on line before I attempted to make his food and found that many people use human vitamins in their mixes. Dog vitamins probably would be better but I haven't found one I like yet. LOL So I continue with the human variety.

LOL....Dogs know where the good stuff is...on our plates! And once you start feeding off your plate, there is no stopping. :p

I don't know why that pic is in my post, and I can't delete, but that's Frankie ordering a plain hamburger at Wendys after we went to the dog park.

:gig They sure do love the fast food joints, don't they! :lau
