jennyworley35: 5 eggs

jennyworley35, that's basically how I did it only smaller. I'm now fixin to do a larger cooler, fact I think I'm gonna work on it right now ;) Gonna hatch my serama eggs in the new one when they arrive :) BTW I like your hole opener/closer ;)
Thanks we put one on the front and one on the side for airflow my husband does fiberglass so we used little circle disk cut outs just make sure you put a line at the top on both disc and cooler that way your holes will line up without having to get on the floor bent over trying to get it lined up I want to make a bigger one too also we want to add a thermostat being that it is cooling off the other morning we had to turn the heater on to get the bators back up. How do you wire a thermostat and what kind do you use?

I'll do the picture contest! I hope everyone gives it a try! I have a bit of an idea, and it sounds like fun!

Oh, sorry jenny, didn't see this page, LOL. The thermostat is an electric water heater lower thermostat. It is non electrical in itself, but mechanical. When the temperature goes up to where you want it, it will cut power to whatever it is hooked up to. So it has 2 screws, you take the negative wire to your lightbulb and cut it in two, then hook one up to one screw and the other end to the other screw ... there are pictures... Oh gosh, I have to take daughter to class, will find good tutorials for you when I get back :D

Hello Everyone! I have my two duck eggs cooking in the bator:) The one one the left is four days old and the one on the right is 12 days. The egg on the right has the best chance of hatching on World Egg Day. "Buster" is 12 days old and has a heartbeat

. They are the results of my pekin duck "Snow White" and my mallard "Shamus". They can be seen in the photo below. Shamus is the little duckling in my Avatar picture. He was born in March and was my first baby from an incubator. I am so excited to see the results of all of our babies!!

Jenny, here is a good thread with how to do the thermometer:

. I just love my duck and chicken buddies. I was so excited when my mallard drake, Shamus, hatched in the Spring. I had him under a broody mallard that stopped setting. My husband and I built a makeshift incubator out of a plastic box and heat lamps. I was so excited when he hatched! I can't believe he is going to be be a dad at such a young age.

lol. I ordered my new incubator from the Murray McMurray cataong. It can hold three chicken eggs or two duck eggs.

So far so good

I will post more updates soon. Good luck on your eggs!!

Oh geepers, is that cute or what???!!!!

The hardest thing in the world was getting little Shamus outside into the big coop. I kept putting it off and waiting. I was beginning to think he was going to be a house duck! However, my husband had other ideas

Lucky for Shamus, he became a very popular member of the flock

I am hoping it will be a little easier this time. lol

I also love the names you've given them :) The two chicks we're sure are hens we've named Ms. Henny Penny and Miss Flutter Balls, LOL. There is one that looks sorta roo like, but hasn't developed waddles yet, whereas the other boys have very red combs and waddles already, so it could be a hen with larger comb, but I doubt it ;P

Hopefully we'll get more hens in this batch!!!

Quiche
Zukkerei
Huevos Rancheros
and using nothin but egg whites or yolks without guilt when the recipe calls for it!

Here we come!!!!
