Wounded cayuga duckling

When a duck has a fever, it won’t be panting. Panting is how they decrease their body temperature because they’re too hot. When they have a fever, their bodies are trying to get hotter so the heat will hopefully kill any foreign invaders.

I’d just watch it. I know mine pant when they sit on my lap too long. How’s it doing other than the panting? Seems like you’ve done a great job so far.:hugs

I must say I’m so impressed by all of your research and hard work - You’ve been a great duck nurse. I hope things keep progressing in the right direction. Sending good health!
:hugs
Thanks I totally needed that lol. I feel like a duck nurse  doing physical therapy in the tub and wound cleaning and special diets. Little Dottie is continuing to improve. So thank you everyone for all your help! I've learned so much. It's good to know stuff, sad I lost a duck and one was injured for it to happen but, the silver lining is I learned!

Thanks! I'm really so glad that there is a forum for all of us to talk and learn from one another! They are doing great. We named the runner Grace. And they snuggle up and get along nicely, so cute when they preen each other. Dottie is walking more and more, still with a hobble. But I'm hopeful that it will go away with time.
